In order to determine the winter cycle of when we should expect each cold snap, we need to determine the rate at which High pressures move through and sit in a location to push cold air up the East coast of Australia, or as we know them, the trade winds. The current synoptic shows the High sitting over SA and the South Easterlies reaching the QLD coast.
