When I left School I applied to get into a degree to do with Cognitive Science at Swinburne University (or as it was then Swinburne Institute of Technology) in how computing could simulate the brain. Basically AI, and that was in 1988. Later in 1994 I was working on a little known project in Executive Development on working out a computer based decision model for determining promotions at a very big Australia company. And while all this is not AI, it was the first incremental steps towards AI. AI is nothing new, it's only just become more accessible to everyone mainly due to ChatGPT.
