Monsoon update
06U / 94P looks now to be moving further East, this one could be a traveller like Winston. It is pushing the SE trade winds against the QLD coast allowing for surprise showers to make it to locations like Townsville over the last few evenings. We will continue to watch this as JTWC has labeled this TC12 which means they consider it a tropical cyclone under their criteria.

Troughs will bring showers and storms to the northern tropics, with isolated storms reaching central Queensland and northern New South Wales. Onshore flow is expected to drive showers along the coastal areas of Queensland and northeast New South Wales. High pressure will dominate much of the southern regions, keeping them dry and settled.

State
An inland trough is bringing unstable conditions from northwestern Queensland through the central and southern interior. It will move west slowly tomorrow before stalling and weakening over the weekend. A ridge is persisting over eastern Queensland, bringing showers to the east coast as highs move east across the Great Australian Bight and southern Tasman Sea. A weak trough lies across the Peninsula to the north of the ridge, extending from a low in the eastern Coral Sea. This trough is expected to persist and may deepen next week.
