National

Persistent upper trough brings unstable conditions in southeast today. Surface trough in interior Queensland moves east, heads offshore southeast coast on Friday. Dry and stable southwest airflow follows trough, causing high Fire Dangers. High crosses Great Australian Bight, brings new ridge to state. High reaches Tasman Sea Saturday, maintains ridge into next week.

State

Unstable conditions persist in the southeast due to an upper trough, while a surface trough in inland Queensland moves eastward offshore of the southeast coast. This creates a dry and stable southwesterly airflow, leading to high Fire Dangers in some areas today and on Friday. A high pressure system crosses the Great Australian Bight, bringing a new ridge over the state for the remainder of the week. The high will continue to the Tasman Sea.
