Heavy rain and storms are on the rise in Queensland's west and the northern regions of New South Wales as easterly winds become more humid and unstable. Flooding is likely. Showers will extend southward along the New South Wales coast. Meanwhile, a high-pressure system will bring clearing conditions to Victoria, Tasmania, and South Australia, as well as keeping the interior and Western Australia dry. Expect storms in the far north.

  • Thursday: Eastern isolated showers. Scattered North Tropical Coast rain. Thunderstorms likely in Cape York. Scattered showers and storms from Longreach to South East Queensland. Severe storms potential in Scenic Rim and Southern Downs. Southwest and northern interior clear. Moderate winds northeast to southeast in east and north, fresh in northern coast. Moderate south to southeast winds in south and west.

  • Friday: Cloudy with showers and thunderstorms in the south. Rain likely in Darling Downs and Gold Coast. More showers and storms in other areas. Moderate falls possible in some coastal regions. Sunny in the west. Below average temperatures in some areas.

  • Saturday: Eastern QLD: Cloudy with showers, isolated storms. SE QLD: Showers likely, heavy rain potential. W QLD: Mostly sunny. Cooler temps in S and W QLD.

High in Tasman Sea strengthens over central/northern Queensland, weak trough approaches North Queensland Coast Friday, showers increase, coastal ridge weakens. Slow-moving trough in southern interior to deepen Thursday, widespread rain develops, shifts east over weekend, pushing off coast early next week.

North Tropical Coast and Tablelands:

The weather forecast is for partly cloudy conditions with a medium chance of showers, likely in the late morning, and a possibility of a thunderstorm in the north. Maximum temperature will be 31°C with minimum temperature between 18-23°C, wind speeds 15-25 km/h from east to southeasterly becoming light in the evening, and overnight temperatures dropping to 18-23°C.

Herbert and Lower Burdekin:

The weather forecast includes a maximum temperature of around 30 degrees, minimum temperature between 19 and 22 degrees, light winds becoming east to northeasterly 15 to 20 km/h, medium chance of showers in the late morning and afternoon, and overnight temperatures falling to between 19 and 22.
