Heavy rain and showers are expected in southeast Queensland and northeast New South Wales due to moist and unstable winds. In the tropical northeast, there will be showers and storms caused by similarly unstable winds. Western Tasmania will experience light showers due to onshore winds around a high-pressure system. Everywhere else will stay dry due to high-pressure conditions.

  • Sunday: Showers likely on the tropical east coast. Rain over central and southeastern Queensland with light winds.

  • Monday: Isolated showers in parts of eastern and northern Queensland with possible thunderstorms. Mostly sunny elsewhere with strong winds and below-average temperatures. Hazards for surf possible in the south.

  • Tuesday: Partly cloudy with showers in the east, sunny elsewhere. Possible thunderstorm in far north. Strong winds and hazardous surf in the south. Temps slightly below average statewide.

Storms - Extreme Weather - Fire danger

Large high over Great Australian Bight strengthening ridge across state this weekend. Trough over Torres Strait and northern Gulf. Weak tropical low on trough moving westward from Queensland. Upper low enhancing rainfall in parts of southeastern and central Queensland this weekend. Potential low-pressure system off east coast later may bring increased winds and swells to southern and central Queensland.

North Tropical Coast and Tablelands:

Max temperature: high 20s, Min temperature: 18-23, Wind speed: 15-25 km/h southeasterly, Wind direction: southeasterly, Rainfall: Slight chance of a shower, Other: Partly cloudy.

Herbert and Lower Burdekin:

The weather forecast for the day includes a maximum temperature of around 30 degrees, light southerly to southeasterly winds of 15 to 20 km/h decreasing in the evening, overnight temperatures dropping to 17-21 degrees, and mostly sunny conditions with a chance of rainfall.

Central Coast and Whitsundays:

Max temperature: 24-29°C, Min temperature: 15-19°C, Wind speed: 20-30 km/h, Wind direction: South to southeasterly, Rainfall: Slight chance of a shower in the south, mostly sunny.

Peninsula:

Max temperature in the low 30s, min temperature in the low to mid 20s, light winds becoming east to southeasterly 15 to 20 km/h, partly cloudy with high chance of showers north of Weipa and slight chance elsewhere, and the chance of a thunderstorm.

Gulf Country:

Maximum temperature in the low 30s, minimum temperature between 17 and 24, wind southerly turning southeasterly 30 to 45 km/h, chance of thunderstorm in the north, and mostly sunny with rainfall expected.

Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders:

The weather forecast for tomorrow includes maximum temperature of 32°C, minimum temperature of 21°C, southeasterly winds increasing to 35 km/h, no rainfall, and will be sunny.

Capricornia:

The weather forecast predicts maximum temperatures in the low to mid 20s, with south to southeasterly winds at 15 to 25 km/h, partly cloudy with high chance of showers and a chance of thunderstorm in the south, and overnight temperatures dropping to between 12 and 17.

Central Highlands and Coalfields:

Partly cloudy with medium chance of showers and thunderstorm in the southeast, southeasterly winds 25-35 km/h, temperatures between 9-15°C overnight and 21-28°C during the day, near zero chance of rain elsewhere.

Central West:

Max temperature in the mid to high 20s, min temperature between 10 and 14, winds southeasterly increasing to 25-35 km/h, sunny with overnight temperatures falling and daytime temperatures reaching the mid to high 20s.

North West:

The weather forecast for tomorrow includes a maximum temperature of around 30 degrees, a minimum temperature between 13 and 16 degrees, wind speeds of 25 to 40 km/h from the southeast, and a chance of showers.

Channel Country:

High 20s temperatures, 14°C overnight, southeasterly winds at 25-40 km/h, sunny weather with no rainfall.

Maranoa and Warrego:

Maximum temperature: 28 degrees Celsius, minimum temperature: 9 degrees Celsius, wind speed: 25-35 km/h decreasing to 15-20 km/h in the evening, wind direction: southeasterly, rainfall: slight chance of a shower in the northeast, other: Partly cloudy.

Darling Downs and Granite Belt:

Max temperature of 26°C, min temperature of 13°C, wind speeds increasing to 20-30 km/h from south-southeasterly direction, cloudy with very high chance of rain in the north and high chance elsewhere, chance of thunderstorm.

Wide Bay and Burnett:

The forecast includes maximum temperature in the low 20s, wind speeds increasing from southerly at 15 to 20 km/h to southeasterly at 20 to 30 km/h, rainfall most likely in the morning and afternoon, a chance of thunderstorms, and overnight temperatures dropping to between 12 and 16 degrees.
