At the start of the wet season around November, you will see me refer to the MJO or Madden-Julian Oscillation chart. That is because this chart helps me to know when and where the monsoon will be at its peak. The peak is referred to as the Monsoon Pulse or 'pulse'. The MJO chart is a measure of cloud and rain around the equator that relates to where the monsoon is most active. The chart represents 8 regions which are roughly located in the image below.
