National Synoptic Situation

National Temperature and Rainfall

State conditions

QLD:

Watch out for some strong winds along the east coast thanks to a high in the Tasman Sea showing off its power. Meanwhile, a trough will be causing some trouble in far southern and southeast Queensland, but don't worry, it will weaken by Thursday. Just when you thought you were safe, a new high will come in to maintain the ridge along the east coast. So, stay safe out there and don't get blown away by those winds!

NSW and ACT:

Well, it seems like Mother Nature is in a bit of a mood swing over the Tasman Sea, mixing up some high pressure with a trough over the far west to create a hot mess of an air mass heading our way. Brace yourselves for some stormy weather ahead as this trough and cold front tag team their way across the region, bringing with them wet conditions and a cool southerly change. But wait, there's more! After this dynamic duo does their thing, we may have a lingering trough and possible low off the northern New South Wales coast, just hanging out and causing a ruckus. And if that wasn't enough, another trough is set to develop over the state's far west, adding to the weather drama. So, folks, remember to stay safe and keep an eye on the forecast as these storms and heatwaves make their way through. It's always better to be prepared than caught off guard when Mother Nature decides to throw a tantrum.

VIC:

Well, it seems like Victoria is playing a little game of tug-of-war with weather systems today. The trough is making a dramatic exit to the east, while the high pressure system in the Bight is extending its reach across the western parts of the state. As the high pressure system leisurely strolls into the Tasman Sea by Wednesday, a new trough is gearing up to make an appearance in western Victoria on Thursday. It's like a never-ending cycle of weather drama unfolding before our very eyes. With all these weather shenanigans going on, it's important to stay safe and prepared for any storms or heatwaves that may come our way. So buckle up, Victoria, and brace yourself for whatever Mother Nature decides to throw at us next. Stay safe out there!

SA:

Well, it seems like a trough over northeastern parts of SA is on the move, heading eastwards this morning. Meanwhile, a high pressure system south of WA is playing a game of catch-up, moving into the Bight and making its way towards the Tasman Sea by Wednesday evening. As if that wasn't enough excitement, a low pressure trough is set to crash the party in the far west of the State on Wednesday. With all these weather shenanigans going on, it's important to stay safe and be prepared for any storms or heatwaves that may come your way. Remember, it's always better to be safe than sorry when dealing with Mother Nature's mood swings.

WA:

Well, isn't that just fantastic? A lovely low pressure trough has decided to grace us with its presence over the northern parts of the state. And what a treat it is! Just what we all needed to add a little excitement to our day. So, hold onto your hats and batten down the hatches, because who knows what kind of weather shenanigans this trough will bring our way. Stay safe out there, folks, and don't let the storms and heatwaves get the best of you.

TAS:

Well, it seems like Tasmania is in for a bit of a weather whiplash this week. A trough hanging around in the northeast is causing some mischief, while a high pressure system is trying to keep things in check. As if that wasn't enough, we've got southerly and northeasterly winds playing tug-of-war over the state. With all this back-and-forth, it's no wonder we might see some stormy conditions or heatwaves in the mix. So, remember to stay safe out there and keep an eye on the forecast. Mother Nature can be quite the prankster, so it's best to be prepared for whatever she throws our way. Stay cool, folks!

NT:

Get ready for some wild weather this week as Australia gets hit with a double whammy of low pressure and troughs. It's like Mother Nature is playing a game of weather ping pong across the country. Stay safe and don't get caught in any stormy shenanigans or heatwave hijinks.

Temperature and Rainfall Forecast - Access-G

Tuesday, 7th January

Prepare for a day of sunshine in the far west, central, and northern interior south of Georgetown. Keep an eye out for isolated showers and potential thunderstorms over inland southern Queensland, which may become scattered about the southern Darling Downs and Granite Belt. Expect partly cloudy skies in eastern districts with isolated showers near the coast south of Townsville and north of Gladstone, possibly becoming scattered around the Central Coast. Don't be surprised by isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms in Far North Queensland, which could escalate to widespread activity with moderate falls possible over the northern Peninsula and in Torres Strait. Maximum temperatures will be above average in the interior and western Queensland, reaching well above average levels in the North West. Be cautious of locally severe heatwave conditions that may arise. Stay safe and stay cool!

Wednesday, 8th January

Prepare yourselves for a mix of sunshine, showers, and thunderstorms spread across the land. While some may bask in the heat in the west, central, and northern interior, others may find themselves seeking shelter from the storm in the east coast. Be wary of the potential for severe heatwave conditions in the North West, and keep an eye out for moderate falls in the northern Peninsula and Torres Strait. Remember, safety first in the face of Mother Nature's unpredictable mood swings!

Thursday, 9th January

Hold onto your hats, folks! It's shaping up to be a scorcher in western Queensland, where temperatures will be soaring. Keep an eye out for isolated thunderstorms and showers in some areas, especially in the east between Cairns and Rockhampton. Don't be caught off guard by the unpredictable weather - stay safe and hydrated to avoid any storms or heatwaves that may come your way.

Friday, 10th January

Grab your sunscreen and a fan because it's going to be scorching hot in western and Far North Queensland! With maximum temperatures soaring above average, it's like Mother Nature turned up the heat just for fun. Keep an eye out for isolated showers and thunderstorms that may pop up, especially along the east coast south of Coen. By Sunday, it's like a storm party will be happening across interior Queensland, so make sure to stay safe and dry. And don't forget to hydrate, because with locally severe heatwave conditions possible in the west, you'll need all the water you can get. Stay cool, folks!
