National Synoptic Situation

National Temperature and Rainfall

State conditions

QLD:

Watch out for those windy conditions along the east coast, courtesy of a high in the Tasman Sea showing off its ridge. The high will be taking a leisurely stroll eastward this week, so expect those gusty winds to calm down a bit. But don't let your guard down just yet - a trough will be making its way through southern and southeast Queensland, bringing some potential stormy weather on Tuesday and Wednesday. By Thursday, the trough will be losing steam, but a new high will be moving in to keep that east coast ridge going strong. Stay safe out there and be prepared for whatever Mother Nature throws your way!

NSW and ACT:

Well, it seems Mother Nature has decided to turn up the heat in our region thanks to a high pressure system over the Tasman Sea. This, combined with a trough in the far west, is bringing in a hot airmass that will have us sweating like pigs. But fear not, for relief is on the way! A cold front passing to the south on Monday and Tuesday will bring wet conditions and a cool southerly change. It's like a breath of fresh air, literally. However, we're not out of the woods just yet. There's a trough and possible low loitering off the northern New South Wales coast, as well as another trough brewing in the state's far west. It's like a stormy soap opera out there. So, stay safe out there, folks. Keep cool, stay hydrated, and don't be caught off guard by any sudden changes in the weather. Mother Nature may have her moods, but we'll weather the storm together.

VIC:

Well, it seems like we've got some interesting weather patterns coming our way. A high pressure system is chilling out over the Tasman Sea, while a trough is stretching its legs into western Victoria. This trough will be making its way eastward tonight, crossing the State like a polite guest overnight into Monday, as the high pressure system decides to take off to the east. But don't worry, another high pressure system is on its way to swoop in across the Bight and extend a ridge over western Victoria on Monday. It will then do a little dance over Tasmania on Tuesday before heading eastward over the Tasman Sea by Wednesday. Just when you thought things were settling down, another trough decides to crash the party on Thursday. So, while we may be in for some stormy or scorching days ahead, remember to stay safe and be prepared for whatever Mother Nature decides to throw our way. Let's just hope she's in a good mood!

SA:

Well, it seems like we've got some exciting weather coming our way! A trough over northeastern parts of SA will be making its way eastwards Sunday evening. Meanwhile, a high pressure system south of WA is getting ready to strut its stuff as it moves into the Bight on Monday and continues east to reach the Tasman Sea by Wednesday evening. And just when you thought things couldn't get any more thrilling, a low pressure trough will be making its grand appearance in the far west of the State on Wednesday. With all this talk of storms and heatwaves, it's important to stay safe out there. Make sure to keep an eye on the weather updates and take necessary precautions to protect yourself from any extreme conditions that may come your way. Remember, it's always better to be safe than sorry when it comes to dealing with Mother Nature's mood swings!

WA:

Looks like Mother Nature is throwing us a curveball with a broad low pressure trough hanging out up north. This could mean some stormy weather heading our way, so make sure to stay safe and batten down the hatches. And don't forget your umbrella, unless you want to be caught in the middle of a storm looking like a drowned rat.

TAS:

Hold onto your hats, folks! A pesky trough over Tasmania will be hanging around the northeast on Monday, while a high pressure system over the Bight will be extending a ridge to the south of Tasmania. This will be causing a southerly airstream to blow over the state. As if that wasn't exciting enough, the high centre will be making its way over Tasmania on Tuesday and Wednesday, before heading into the Tasman Sea on Thursday. This will result in a northeasterly flow over the state. So, brace yourselves for some wild weather! Stay safe and be prepared for any storms or heatwaves that may come your way. And remember, it's always better to be safe than sorry!

NT:

Hold onto your hats, because we've got some wild weather coming our way! A big ol' low pressure system is making itself comfy up north, while a couple of troughs are sauntering through the southern parts of the continent. So, batten down the hatches and stay safe out there as you weather the storm (literally) and dodge those heatwaves.

Temperature and Rainfall Forecast - Access-G

Monday, 6th January

Hold onto your hats, folks! The Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders and Channel Country districts are in for a real scorcher today. With high temperatures expected, it's important to stay safe and hydrated. And don't be surprised if a storm rolls in - Mother Nature has a way of keeping us on our toes. So buckle up and prepare for some wild weather ahead!

Tuesday, 7th January

So, it looks like we've got a bit of a mixed bag weather-wise today. In the far west, central, and northern interior south of Georgetown, it's mostly sunny - so pack your sunscreen and shades for those bright rays. But don't get too comfortable, because there are some isolated showers and possible thunderstorms over inland southern Queensland. Watch out for those lightning bolts, folks! Over in the southern Darling Downs and Granite Belt, those showers are tending to be a bit more scattered. It's like Mother Nature can't make up her mind - typical. And don't even get me started on the eastern districts - partly cloudy with isolated showers near the coast south of Townsville and north of Gladstone. It's like a game of hide and seek with the rain clouds. Up in Far North Queensland, it's a different story altogether. Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms are on the menu, with things tending to get a bit more widespread in the northern Peninsula and Torres Strait. It's like a storm party up there - just make sure you've got your raincoat and umbrella handy. And let's not forget about those temperatures. Maximum temps are above average over interior and western Queensland, and well above average in the North West. We're talking severe heatwave conditions possible, so stay cool and hydrated, folks. It's like walking on the sun out there. So, whether you're basking in the sunshine or dodging thunderstorms, just remember to stay safe out there, folks. Mother Nature can be a fickle friend, but with a little common sense and preparation, you'll weather the storm - pun intended.

Wednesday, 8th January

Another day of scorching heat in the west, central, and northern interior, so make sure to slather on that sunscreen and stay hydrated to avoid turning into a human barbecue. If you're in the North West, be prepared for some seriously severe heatwave conditions - it's like walking into an oven out there! Meanwhile, in the far southwest and northern interior, it's mostly sunny - a perfect day for a picnic, if you can handle the heat. But don't let the sunshine fool you, isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms are lurking around, ready to ruin your outdoor plans faster than you can say "ice cream melt." Over on the east coast, between Cairns and the Sunshine Coast, showers are making a comeback. They may not seem like much at first, but don't be fooled - they can quickly turn into a full-blown storm, complete with thunder and lightning. So, stay safe and don't get caught in the crossfire of Mother Nature's temper tantrum. And let's not forget about the northern Peninsula and Torres Strait, where showers are threatening to become widespread at times. Keep an eye out for those moderate falls, unless you're a fan of unexpected downpours ruining your hairdo. Overall, maximum temperatures are above or well above average in some parts, so be prepared for a sweat-soaked day. In the southeast, temperatures are near average, so at least you won't feel like you're melting into a puddle of regret. Remember, it's all fun and games until a heatwave or storm crashes the party, so stay safe out there, folks!

Thursday, 9th January

Looks like western Queensland is in for a sunny day, except for those unlucky souls in Cairns to Rockhampton who might get a bit wet. Keep an eye out for showers and thunderstorms popping up all over the place, especially in the far north. And don't forget your sunscreen, because it's going to be hotter than usual in the northwest, central, and northern interior. Stay safe out there, folks!
