National Synoptic Situation

National Temperature and Rainfall

State conditions

QLD:

Well, it seems like Mother Nature is feeling a tad dramatic this week with a high in the Tasman Sea showing off its strength over the state. Brace yourselves for some enhanced winds along the east coast, courtesy of this lingering high and its fancy ridge. But wait, there's more! A trough is making its way into southern Queensland on Tuesday and Wednesday, only to weaken by Thursday. And just when you think it's all over, a new high decides to waltz into the southern Tasman Sea on Wednesday, giving those east coast winds a much-needed break. So, to all you brave souls out there facing these stormy winds and heatwaves, remember to stay safe and cozy indoors. It's all fun and games until someone gets blown away, right? Stay safe out there, folks!

NSW and ACT:

Well, it seems like Queensland is in for a double whammy of weather today. A trough up north and another one out west means there's some interesting things happening in the atmosphere. And let's not forget about that high pressure system off the Gippsland Coast - it's just chilling out there, slowly making its way towards the Tasman Sea. Now, here's where things get interesting. That high pressure system is going to start blowing some hot air our way, thanks to a northerly airstream. So if you thought it was hot before, just wait until you feel that heatwave coming our way. But don't get too comfortable, because a cold front and its trusty sidekick trough are on the horizon. They're set to sweep across the state between Monday and Tuesday, bringing with them some wet weather and a cool southerly change. So make sure you've got your umbrellas handy and maybe a jumper or two. Remember, when the storms roll in and the heatwaves hit, safety always comes first. So stay indoors, stay hydrated, and stay safe out there, folks.

VIC:

Hold onto your hats, folks, because it looks like Victoria is in for a wild ride this weekend! A high pressure system in the Tasman Sea is pushing a ridge across the state, bringing with it the potential for storms and heatwaves. On Saturday, a trough will creep over western Victoria, deepening further on Sunday and creating hot northerly winds. By Monday, the trough will sweep across the state, ushering in cooler southerly winds as a new high pressure system takes shape in the Bight. As the high strengthens west of Tasmania on Tuesday, it's important to stay safe and prepared for whatever Mother Nature has in store.

SA:

The current weather situation in South Australia is as unpredictable as your last relationship. A high pressure system in the Tasman Sea is playing puppet master, forcing a northerly airstream over the state. But hold onto your hats, folks, because a trough and low pressure system from Western Australia is marching towards us, ready to crash the party on Saturday and Sunday. It's like a dramatic soap opera unfolding in the skies above us. Stay safe and secure your belongings, because this weather rollercoaster is not for the faint of heart. And just when you think you've seen it all, a new high will swoop in early next week like the hero in a romantic novel. So, keep your sunscreen and umbrellas handy, because you never know when a storm or heatwave will strike. And remember, safety first - Mother Nature is not one to be trifled with.

WA:

Well, would you look at that - a lovely broad low pressure trough has decided to grace us with its presence over the northern parts of the state. How delightful! Just be sure to stay safe out there, as you never know what kind of shenanigans a low pressure trough might bring along with it. Keep an eye out for storms and heatwaves, and remember to take all necessary precautions to stay out of harm's way.

TAS:

It seems like Mother Nature is feeling a bit dramatic this weekend, with a high pressure centre setting up shop over the Tasman Sea. This means warmer air from the north to northeast is blowing over Tasmania, making it feel like a tropical paradise (minus the palm trees and cocktails). But hold on to your hats, because things are about to get a little wild. A trough is on its way from the west, ready to mix things up and bring some stormy weather on Sunday. Make sure you've got your umbrella handy and stay safe during the inevitable downpour. As if that's not enough excitement for one weekend, the trough will stick around on Monday, while a high pressure system from the Bight will bring a southerly airstream over Tasmania. It's like a weather rollercoaster, but with less screaming and more wind. By Tuesday, the high pressure system will be in charge, hopefully bringing some calm after the storm. So batten down the hatches, stay safe, and remember to always respect Mother Nature's mood swings.

NT:

Well, it seems like Mother Nature is feeling a bit moody as a trough decides to deepen near the base of the Top End. This trough will be making its way south over the weekend, causing some interesting weather patterns. And just when you thought it couldn't get any more exciting, another trough is approaching, ready to turn those winds northerly once again. With all this talk of troughs and winds changing direction, it's important to stay safe out there. You never know when a storm or heatwave might decide to crash the party. So keep an eye on the weather updates and make sure you're prepared for whatever comes your way. Stay safe, folks!

Temperature and Rainfall Forecast - Access-G

Saturday, 4th January

Be prepared for intense heatwaves in the western and northern regions. It seems Mother Nature has decided to turn up the temperature dial to scorching levels. Remember to stay safe and hydrated during these sweltering conditions to avoid any unwanted surprises.

Sunday, 5th January

Prepare yourself for some scorching temperatures in the southern and central interior, where the sun is shining bright. Keep an eye out for isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms in other areas, but don't be surprised if they turn into mere showers in the east, below Mackay. There may be some moderate rainfall along the northeast coast. Remember to stay safe and hydrated as you navigate through these unpredictable weather patterns.

Monday, 6th January

Prepare for a potential showdown between the sun and scattered showers and thunderstorms in various regions today. The southern and central interior will be basking in sunshine, while the eastern districts south of Townsville might only experience showers. Keep an eye out for isolated moderate falls along the northeast coast. Temperatures will be soaring above average in the northwest and hovering near average in other areas. Stay safe and stay cool amidst the stormy heatwaves!

Tuesday, 7th January

Bask in the sunshine in the southwest and central interior, but watch out for those isolated showers and thunderstorms lurking around. Just showers expected in the east coast south of Townsville. Temperatures soaring above average in the northwest, while maintaining a cool composure elsewhere. Remember to stay safe and keep an umbrella handy for any unexpected stormy surprises!

Region Round-up - BOM

North Tropical Coast and Tablelands

Region Forecast: Looks like we've got some mood swings from the sky today - partly cloudy with a chance of showers, especially later in the day. Don't be surprised if a thunderstorm decides to crash the party. Winds will be playing a game of hide and seek, starting off light before picking up speed in the middle of the day and then disappearing in the evening. Temperatures are set to drop to a balmy 19-23 degrees overnight, but don't get too comfortable because daytime temperatures will be sizzling at 27-33 degrees. So remember to stay hydrated and seek shade if you start feeling like a roasted marshmallow. And of course, if you hear thunder or see lightning, it's time to seek shelter and stay safe. Mother Nature doesn't mess around with her stormy moods.
