National Synoptic Situation

National Temperature and Rainfall

State conditions

QLD:

Well, it seems like we have a delightful mix of high pressure, troughs, and heat coming our way in tropical east Queensland. The heat from central Australia is being pushed our way thanks to a trough in the interior, which will eventually make its way over to the southeast coast before deciding to hang out in central Queensland for the weekend. And just when you thought it couldn't get any more exciting, a trough in the northern Coral Sea might make an appearance near Cape York Peninsula, bringing along some extra moisture and rainfall for Far North Queensland and the tropical east coast. So, while we brace ourselves for this stormy heatwave extravaganza, let's remember to stay safe out there and maybe invest in some extra sunscreen and a sturdy umbrella. Who said weather forecasts couldn't be thrilling?

NSW and ACT:

Batten down the hatches, folks! We've got a high pressure ridge cozying up behind a low pressure trough, with a side of lingering low pressure over the inland. It's like a stormy soap opera playing out in the atmosphere. And just when you thought it couldn't get any more dramatic, a cold front is swooping in from the south today. But fear not, for a high will be sauntering along the coast over the weekend, bringing some much-needed calm after the storm. However, don't get too comfortable because another front will be making its grand entrance on Monday, before causing a ruckus in the northeast on Tuesday. So, in the midst of all this weather drama, remember to stay safe and keep an eye out for any heatwaves or storms that may come your way. Mother Nature may be putting on a show, but that doesn't mean you can't be prepared.

VIC:

Hold onto your hats, Victorians! A high in the Southern Ocean is flexing its muscles and extending a ridge over our lovely state. Meanwhile, a troublesome trough is creeping down from NSW, causing a bit of a stir over eastern Victoria. This trough will be making its way east through Bass Strait and into NSW, while another high decides to show up over the Bight. As if that's not enough excitement for one weekend, we've got a trough and cold front heading our way from the west on Sunday. They'll be making their grand entrance and crossing the state on Monday, so make sure you've got your umbrellas and sunscreen at the ready. So, in summary, we've got storms, heatwaves, and unpredictable weather on the horizon. Stay safe out there, folks!

SA:

Well, well, well, looks like Mother Nature has decided to throw a little party with this high pressure ridge taking over the state. But don't get too comfortable, because this high is planning to jet off to Tasmania on Sunday, making way for a trough to roll in from the west. By Monday, this trough will be crashing the party in central and eastern parts. So, make sure to stay safe and weather the storm (literally) as these changes can bring some wild weather with them.

WA:

Well, isn't Mother Nature just having a grand old time with that broad low pressure trough hanging out over the Kimberley? Looks like some stormy weather might be on the horizon, so best to stay safe and hunker down. And let's not forget about those scorching heatwaves that could be making an appearance as well. So keep cool, folks, and remember to stay safe out there!

TAS:

Hold onto your hats, Tasmania! A trough is hanging out in central Bass Strait, but don't worry, it's expected to weaken soon. Brace yourselves for some westerly winds coming your way. Oh, and a weak cold front will be swinging by in the south on Saturday. But fear not, a high pressure system will swoop in on Sunday to save the day. Now, here's where it gets interesting. Northerly winds will pick up speed on Monday morning, so make sure you're not caught off guard. They might even get a bit gusty. And to top it all off, a front is set to roll through in the afternoon and evening. So be sure to batten down the hatches and stay safe out there, folks!

NT:

Well, looks like Mother Nature is in quite the mood up in the Northern Territory, with a broad area of low pressure causing a bit of a stir. And don't even get me started on those troughs extending over the Tanami and Barkly Districts - talk about drama! Oh, and let's not forget about that ridge stretching across southern NT, trying to keep everything in line. But wait, there's more! Another trough is set to make an appearance in southern NT on Monday. It's like a never-ending cycle of weather systems trying to outdo each other. So, stay safe out there, folks, and make sure to keep an eye out for any storms or heatwaves heading your way. Mother Nature doesn't mess around!

Temperature and Rainfall Forecast - Access-G

Saturday, 25th January

Basking in sunshine down southwest way. Showers and thunderstorms popping up here and there, especially in central Queensland and up north on the Peninsula. Keep an eye out for severe thunderstorms, they could bring some heavy rain, especially around the Central Highlands and Coalfields. Temperatures hitting near or above the norm, but watch out for those inland areas south of Georgetown and west of Dalby - they're really feeling the heat. Extreme heatwave conditions lingering up north, but easing up a bit in the southeast and central regions. Stay safe out there, folks!

Sunday, 26th January

Grab your sunscreen and umbrellas, because it's shaping up to be a scorcher out there! While the far southwest might be enjoying some partly cloudy skies, the rest of Queensland is in for a wild ride of isolated showers and thunderstorms. These storms are feeling a bit rebellious, spreading out across the northern, central, and eastern regions, and even causing widespread chaos along the northeast tropical coast. Temperatures are playing it cool near the east coast, but things are heating up inland and reaching scorching levels in the west. The severe heatwave conditions in northern Queensland are finally starting to cool off, but that doesn't mean you should let your guard down. Remember to stay safe out there, folks. Keep hydrated, seek shade, and avoid any stormy situations. Mother Nature may be unpredictable, but with a little caution, you can weather any storm or heatwave that comes your way.

Monday, 27th January

Ah, it seems like Mother Nature is feeling a bit dramatic today, with isolated showers and thunderstorms making an appearance across most of the state. Don't be surprised if you find yourself caught in a sudden downpour - it's all part of the fun! If you happen to be in the southeastern and central parts of the state, you might be lucky enough to escape the thunder and just experience some light showers. But up north, near Ayr, things are looking a bit more serious with scattered to widespread showers and the possibility of moderate rainfall along the North Tropical Coast. Now, when it comes to temperatures, it's a bit of a mixed bag. Near the east coast, things are staying pretty average. But as you head inland, temperatures are creeping above average. And out west? Well, let's just say it's going to be well above average. So, if you're planning on venturing out that way, be sure to pack some extra sunscreen and stay hydrated. And speaking of heat, it looks like we've got some severe heatwave conditions brewing in southwestern Queensland. So, while you're out there enjoying the stormy weather or basking in the sunshine, remember to stay safe, stay cool, and stay hydrated. Mother Nature can be a bit unpredictable, but with a little common sense, you'll weather the storm just fine.

Tuesday, 28th January

Well, it seems like Mother Nature is feeling a bit moody today, with isolated showers and thunderstorms possible across most parts of the state. Just showers in the southeastern and central areas, while things are getting a bit more scattered to widespread up north near Ayr and the Central Coast. It's looking partly cloudy in the central eastern interior, but don't let that fool you into thinking it's safe to go out without sunscreen. Maximum temperatures are expected to be near or above average, with some areas in the west even reaching well above average. So, if you're in the southwest, you might want to rethink that outdoor barbecue and opt for some air conditioning instead. Remember, safety first in these severe heatwave conditions - stay hydrated, find some shade, and avoid any unnecessary sun exposure. Stay safe out there, folks!
