National Synoptic Situation

National Temperature and Rainfall

State conditions

QLD:

Hold onto your hats, Queenslanders! A big ol' trough is making its way across the state, bringing with it the potential for some stormy weather. This trough will start in the west on Wednesday, then shimmy its way east by Thursday and into central Queensland by Friday. And just when you thought it couldn't get any more exciting, a new ridge will swoop in from the south, joining the party over the weekend. But wait, there's more! A pesky low is expected to pop up in the Tasman Sea, adding to the mix of weather shenanigans. And up north, a cheeky little trough might make an appearance on the far northern Peninsula next week. So, in summary, brace yourselves for some stormy days ahead, folks. Remember to stay safe and keep an eye on those weather updates. And maybe invest in a good umbrella or two. Stay dry out there!

NSW and ACT:

Well, folks, it seems like we're in for a rollercoaster of weather this week. A high pressure system and an inland trough are teaming up to bring some moist northeasterly airstream across the state. But hold onto your hats, because a strong cold front and its trusty sidekick, a trough, will be crashing the party midweek before heading offshore to form a low pressure system off the coast. As if that wasn't enough excitement, wet and windy conditions will be sticking around along the coast and adjacent ranges later in the week through the weekend. This is all thanks to the low pressure system and another high pressure system to the south, keeping that fresh to strong onshore southeasterly airstream going strong. So, in true storm-chaser fashion, make sure to stay safe out there and maybe invest in a sturdy umbrella. Looks like Mother Nature is feeling a bit unpredictable this week.

VIC:

Hold onto your hats, Victorians! We've got a broad trough causing a weak pressure gradient across the state. On Wednesday, a cold front is swooping in with a low pressure system not too far behind. And let's not forget about that new high pressure system moving in on Thursday, extending a ridge over us. By Friday, the high is making its way to the west of Tasmania, then heading southeast on Saturday. Stay safe out there, folks, and be prepared for some stormy weather and scorching heatwaves!

SA:

Hold onto your hats, folks! A trough and front are making their way across the state, bringing with them some cooler, gusty winds. But don't get too comfortable just yet, as a new high is coming in to shake things up later in the week. Stay safe out there and make sure to take precautions against any storm or heatwave that may come your way.

WA:

Well, isn't that just peachy? A big ol' low pressure trough deciding to set up camp in the northern parts of the state. And just to spice things up, we might even get a monsoon trying to crash the party in the Timor Sea soon. Keep an eye out for any potential tropical lows lurking around the Kimberley or Pilbara coast - they love a good dramatic entrance. Now, I'm not saying we're going to have a storm of the century or anything, but let's just say it wouldn't hurt to have your raincoat handy. And if a heatwave decides to join the fun, make sure you stay hydrated and find some shade. Safety first, folks. Let's not let Mother Nature show us who's boss.

TAS:

Well, it seems Tasmania is in for a bit of a weather rollercoaster this week. Brace yourselves as a cold front is set to swoop in from the southern Bight on Wednesday. But don't get too comfortable, because a high pressure centre will be making its way over the Bight and towards Tasmania on Thursday, before casually strolling by the west of the state on Friday. As if that wasn't enough excitement, the high pressure will be directing an easterly flow over Tasmania on Saturday. So, make sure you're prepared for some stormy conditions and maybe even a heatwave or two. Stay safe out there and don't let the weather catch you off guard!

NT:

Hold onto your hats, folks! We've got a low-pressure system hanging around up in northern NT, with a trough sneaking its way eastward across southern NT tonight and into Wednesday morning. But wait, there's more - a ridge is set to come barreling in, flexing its muscles over southern NT on Thursday and Friday. This ridge means business and it's going to shove that trough up north through central NT, causing showers and storms to clear out from the south and ramp up in the north. So, batten down the hatches and stay safe out there, because it's going to be a wild ride of weather shenanigans!

Temperature and Rainfall Forecast - Access-G

Wednesday, 15th January

Well, it seems like the Central West, North West, Channel Country, Maranoa, and Warrego regions are in for a toasty day. With high temperatures expected, it might feel like you're on the surface of the sun. And let's not forget about the possibility of some stormy weather rolling in. So, be sure to stay safe out there and keep cool during this sizzling forecast.

Thursday, 16th January

Bask in the glorious sunshine in the southwest and southern interior, but beware of isolated showers and thunderstorms lurking elsewhere. Keep an eye out for those scattered storms in the southeast, central, and northern regions - they're not to be taken lightly. Brace yourself for the potential of severe thunderstorms in eastern Queensland south of Ayr. While maximum temperatures may be below average in some parts of the far southwest, don't be fooled - they're near or above average everywhere else, and soaring to well above average in central and southeast Queensland. It's so hot, it's practically a severe heatwave in parts of central and northeastern Queensland. Remember to stay safe out there, folks - Mother Nature isn't messing around with her storms and heatwaves.

Friday, 17th January

Get ready for some scorching hot weather in central and northeastern Queensland, folks! Maximum temperatures are expected to be near or below average in the south, Gulf Country, and adjacent northern interior. But don't be fooled, because in central to northeast Queensland, temperatures will be soaring well above average. Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast, with only isolated showers expected inland in the southeast. So, be on the lookout for some stormy weather while you're out and about. With severe heatwave conditions in parts of central and northeastern Queensland, it's important to stay safe and cool. Remember to stay hydrated, seek shade, and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun. Mother Nature is turning up the heat, so be prepared and take care of yourself in this extreme weather.

Saturday, 18th January

Well, looks like Mother Nature is up to her usual shenanigans again. We've got mostly sunny skies down south of Mount Isa and west of Hughenden to St George. If you happen to be anywhere else, watch out for isolated showers and thunderstorms - they might sneak up on you when you least expect it. And if you're up north in Far North Queensland, you might want to grab an umbrella because those showers are going to be scattered. Oh, and let's not forget about the heatwave in northeast Queensland. It's so severe, it's almost like Mother Nature turned the thermostat up a few notches just for fun. So, stay safe out there and make sure to stay hydrated. And if you see any storms brewing, it's probably best to find some shelter. Mother Nature can be a bit unpredictable, after all.

Region Round-up - BOM

North Tropical Coast and Tablelands

Region Forecast: Get ready for a medley of weather fun! There's a decent chance of showers in the afternoon and evening, with the added bonus of a potential thunderstorm in the late morning. With light winds and temperatures dropping to a balmy 20 to 25 overnight, it's like sleeping in a cozy sauna. Daytime temperatures will be sizzling in the low to mid 30s, so be sure to stay hydrated and slap on some sunscreen. Stay safe out there, folks!
