National Synoptic Situation

National Temperature and Rainfall

State conditions

QLD:

Buckle up, fellow Earth inhabitants! We've got a high loitering in the southern Tasman Sea, keeping a tight grip on the eastern Queensland ridge. A troublesome trough is stretching its arms over the west and southern interior, pulling moisture inland like a vacuum cleaner on steroids. As we head towards the weekend, the ridge will start to slack off as the high makes a run for it. The trough, on the other hand, is gearing up to deepen and make its way towards the southeast by Saturday, possibly overstaying its welcome near the coast for a few days before finally deciding to hit the road early next week. And just when you thought it was safe to step outside, a brand new trough will be making its grand entrance from Wednesday onwards. So, dear friends, as we brace ourselves for potential storms and heatwaves, remember to stay safe out there. And if you see a trough coming your way, run for cover like your life depends on it - because it just might. Stay cool, stay dry, and stay safe out there in the wild world of weather madness.

NSW and ACT:

Hold onto your hats, folks! A high pressure system is hanging out in the southern Tasman Sea, causing a moist flow to drift across eastern New South Wales. Meanwhile, a fancy trough is making an appearance in the state's far west, bringing along showers and thunderstorms for some added drama. But wait, there's more! This weekend, a trough off the far north coast is expected to join the party, cranking up the rainfall along the north coast. As if that wasn't enough, the inland trough and a fancy ridge in the east are teaming up to blast the west with some serious heat thanks to a northerly airstream. And just when you thought things couldn't get any more exciting, a strong cold front is gearing up to crash the party mid to late next week. This means more wet conditions are on the horizon, followed by a significant temperature drop that'll have you reaching for your winter woollies. So, stay safe out there, folks! Be prepared for storms, heatwaves, and everything in between. Mother Nature sure knows how to keep us on our toes!

VIC:

Well, looks like we've got some interesting weather patterns coming our way. A high pressure system in the southern Tasman Sea is doing its thing, extending a weak ridge towards eastern Victoria. Meanwhile, a pesky trough is loitering near the South Australian border, causing some mischief. As the centre of the high slowly shuffles southeast, the trough will deepen and stick around eastern South Australia and western Victoria. It's like that annoying guest at a party who just won't leave. On Sunday, the trough will finally decide to move east across the State, while a cold front sneaks past Tasmania and another high casually strolls across the Bight. Just your typical weekend weather drama. But wait, there's more! Another trough decides to make an appearance on Monday, stretching across northwestern Victoria. It then deepens near the South Australian border on Tuesday, because why not keep us on our toes? So, folks, if you find yourself caught in any storm or heatwave that these weather shenanigans may bring, remember to stay safe out there. Mother Nature can be quite the prankster.

SA:

Prepare yourselves, fellow Earthlings, for a delightful mix of high pressure systems and troughs making their way across our beloved Tasmania. As the ridge extends into the south of the state, brace yourselves for some weakening action on Saturday. Keep an eye out for those sneaky troughs developing on the far west and east over the weekend - they're up to no good. And just when you thought it was safe to go outside, a trough will sweep across the south from Tuesday into Wednesday. Stay safe out there, friends, and remember to pack your sunscreen and umbrellas. Mother Nature waits for no one!

WA:

Well, isn't that just peachy? We've got ourselves a lovely little low pressure trough hovering over the northern parts of the state. And what's that? Oh dear, it looks like we might be in for some stormy weather. So, you know the drill - stay safe out there, folks. And don't forget to pack your umbrella!

TAS:

Ah, it appears we have a delightful trough nestled within a warm airmass from the north gracing our state. This charming feature will be sticking around until early next week, bringing with it the potential for some rather exciting weather events. So, be sure to buckle up and stay safe as you navigate through any storms or heatwaves that may come your way.

NT:

Get ready for some stormy weather up north and potentially scorching heat down south as a wide area of low pressure looms over Australia. Keep an eye out for those troughs making their way across the southern regions in the coming days. Remember to stay safe and be prepared for any extreme weather conditions that may come your way.

Temperature and Rainfall Forecast - Access-G

Saturday, 11th January

Well, it seems like the Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders will be sizzling away with high temperatures. So, make sure to stay cool and hydrated to avoid feeling like a human marshmallow. And if storms decide to crash the party, remember to stay safe and dry. It's all fun and games until someone gets struck by lightning, after all.

Sunday, 12th January

Grab your umbrella and sunscreen, because we've got a mixed bag of weather coming our way! There's a chance of showers and thunderstorms scattered throughout the region, with some areas even facing the possibility of severe thunderstorms. So, if you hear that ominous rumble of thunder, it might be time to hunker down and stay safe. In the far southwest, it's looking partly cloudy, but don't let that fool you - the heat is still on the rise. Maximum temperatures are soaring above average in the western, central, and northern interior, as well as the Far North Queensland. Meanwhile, the southeast is looking a bit cooler, with temperatures below average. But hold on to your hats (literally), because extreme heatwave conditions are on the horizon in the northeast, with severe heatwave conditions popping up in other parts of Queensland. So, make sure to stay hydrated, seek shade, and protect yourself from the scorching sun. Mother nature may have a sense of humor, but she's not joking around when it comes to keeping safe in these stormy and sweltering conditions.

Monday, 13th January

Get ready for a mix of sunshine and scattered storms across Queensland, with some areas facing the wrath of severe thunderstorms. While temperatures may be normal in the southeast, expect things to heat up in the west and northeast - like, really heat up. We're talking extreme heatwave conditions, folks. So, stay safe out there and maybe invest in some extra fans or ice packs. Mother nature is not messing around today.

Tuesday, 14th January

Get ready to sweat it out, folks! Mother Nature is turning up the heat in central, northern, and far northern Queensland with some severe heatwave conditions. In the southwest, temperatures will be below average - a nice reprieve from the scorching sun elsewhere. Keep an eye out for isolated showers and thunderstorms in eastern, northern, and Far North Queensland, which are expected to become more widespread throughout the day. Remember to stay safe in the storms and stay hydrated in the heatwave - it's going to be a wild one out there!
