National Synoptic Situation

National Temperature and Rainfall

  • Rainย typically refers to steady, continuous precipitation that lasts for a longer period, sometimes hours or even days. It can vary in intensity, but it's usually more consistent and widespread.

  • Showers, on the other hand, are shorter bursts of rain, often intermittent. They can be heavy but usually don't last long. Showers are more sporadic and may be followed by dry periods or other types of weather, like sun or clouds.

State conditions

QLD:

Well, it looks like we've got a bit of a weather situation happening up in north Queensland with this monsoon trough hanging around for a while. There's talk of a weak tropical low possibly forming off the northeast coast before buggering off out to sea. Down south, we've got a ridge just chilling out over the east coast while a trough might be sneaking its way into southwest Queensland. Now, we all know how wild these storms can get in the Aussie outback, so make sure you're prepared and stay safe out there. And don't forget to slip, slop, slap in this heatwave, because it's gonna be a scorcher! Stay cool, mates.

NSW and ACT:

Well, it looks like we've got a bit of a weather situation on our hands, folks. There's a high pressure system hanging out over the Tasman Sea, having a grand old time. Meanwhile, there's a cheeky little trough causing some mischief out west, stirring up showers and thunderstorms. And don't even get me started on that cold front sneaking around down south, bringing along a southerly change for the weekend. But wait, there's more! That trough near the coast is going to stick around and deepen next week, while a new trough decides to join the party up north. So, brace yourselves for some wet weather heading our way. Remember to stay safe out there, especially with all these storms and heatwaves on the horizon. Keep an eye on the forecast and make sure you're prepared for whatever Mother Nature throws at us. Stay cool, Australia!

VIC:

Well, isn't Mother Nature just having a grand old time with her low pressure troughs and high pressure ridges over in eastern and central parts of our lovely State? Looks like things are going to get a bit wild with storms and heatwaves on the horizon. So, make sure you're prepared and stay safe out there, mate.

SA:

Batten down the hatches, folks! There's a pesky low pressure trough hanging around the far north east corner of the state all weekend. Meanwhile, a high pressure system down south is trying to keep things calm, but watch out for that slow moving trough creeping in from the west on Monday. It's like a game of weather chess out there. And don't forget about those heatwaves and storms - they can be as unpredictable as a drop bear in the bush. So stay safe and keep an eye on the forecast. Remember, it's better to be prepared than to be caught out in a thunderstorm wearing nothing but a cork hat. Stay cool, mate!

WA:

Alright, buckle up mate, looks like we've got a bit of a sticky situation brewing up north in WA. There's a pesky low pressure trough hanging around that area, causing a bit of chaos. And to top it off, we might even see a cheeky Tropical Low popping up near the North Kimberley coast over the weekend, deciding to crash the party and make its way southwest. Now, I don't know about you, but that sounds like a recipe for some wild weather. So, make sure to keep an eye out for any storm warnings and be prepared for anything that might come your way. Stay safe out there, and don't let Mother Nature catch you off guard!

TAS:

Looks like Mother Nature is having a bit of a mood swing down in the Bight, with a high pressure system causing all sorts of weather shenanigans in Tasmania. We've got a southerly airstream coming through today, so make sure you've got your jackets handy. But hold onto your hats, because things are about to heat up as the high pressure system moves further south over the Tasman Sea. By Tuesday, we'll be feeling the warmth from a northeasterly flow, so get ready to break out the sunscreen and crank up the fans. Just when you thought it couldn't get any crazier, a strong cold front is set to make its grand entrance on Wednesday, bringing with it even more wild weather. So stay safe out there, folks, and make sure you're prepared for whatever Mother Nature throws our way.

NT:

Well, buckle up mate, looks like we've got a low in the eastern Kimberley making its way west, giving the Territory a bit of a breather. But don't get too comfortable, because there's a slow-moving trough hanging around the Gregory and northern Barkly Districts, bringing some monsoonal vibes to the east. Keep an eye out for those monsoonal showers up in the Top End, they can come out of nowhere like a sneaky koala in a eucalyptus tree. And down south, we've got hot, dry easterly winds blowing through like a heatwave at a barbie. So make sure you're staying cool and hydrated, because things are heating up. Next week, a trough is approaching from the west, so it's best to stay prepared for some stormy weather ahead. Remember to stay safe out there, mate, and keep an eye on the skies. And if you need to escape the heat, just head to the nearest pub for a cold one. Cheers!

Temperature and Rainfall Forecast - Access-G

Sunday, 9th February

Looks like there's a bit of weather action happenin' today, mate. Some showers and storms kickin' off near the New South Wales border and Mackay. Might wanna keep an eye out for some heavy rain up north, especially between Ayr and Tully. And don't forget about those winds - they're gonna be blowin' all over the place, so hold onto your hats! Remember, when it comes to storms and heatwaves, it's always best to stay safe and take precautions. So grab your brolly and sunscreen, and keep an eye on the skies. And if you're out and about, make sure you're prepared for any sudden changes in the weather. Better to be safe than sorry, right?

Monday, 10th February

Looks like Mother Nature is feeling a bit moody today, with some scattered showers and thunderstorms making an appearance. Up north from Bowen to Winton, you might want to keep an eye out for some heavy rain - don't want to get caught in a downpour! Down south, it's a bit more hit and miss with the showers, but you might still hear a rumble of thunder. Keep your brolly handy just in case! Temperatures are a bit all over the place today - cooler up north, but heating up around the southern interior. Stay hydrated and slip, slop, slap if you're out and about in the heat. Remember, safety first when it comes to storms and heatwaves. Keep an eye on the weather warnings and stay safe out there, mates!

Tuesday, 11th February

Looks like we've got a bit of a mixed bag weather-wise today, with some scattered showers and thunderstorms scattered around the place. Keep an eye out for some heavy rainfall in the western Peninsula and surrounding areas, and make sure to stay safe if you're south of Rolleston to Gympie as the showers could become more widespread with a side of thunderstorms. Temperatures are a bit all over the place too, with things slightly cooler than usual up north and a bit warmer down south. So grab your brolly and your sunscreen, and remember to stay safe out there in the wild weather!

Wednesday, 12th February

Keep an eye out for some scattered showers and thunderstorms up north from Townsville to Hughenden. Don't be surprised if you cop a bit of rain in other parts of Queensland too, especially in the central and southeast areas. The heat will be cranking up in the west and southern interior, so make sure you slap on that sunscreen and stay hydrated. Stay safe out there, mate!

Region Round-up - BOM

The winds will start off a bit on the light side, but they'll pick up to around 15 to 20 km/h from the west to northwesterly direction. By evening, they'll ease off to bugger all. Overnight, temperatures will drop to the low to mid 20s, with daytime temperatures creeping up into the mid to high 20s. Stay safe out there, cobbers! And don't forget your brolly!
