National Synoptic Situation

Max/Min/Rain for 4 days

Synoptic Situation for

QLD:

Well, it seems like we've got a high in the Tasman Sea extending a ridge over most of the state. This high will be taking a leisurely stroll east over the next day or two, keeping that ridge in place. Drier air will be sauntering into the far north on Sunday, while those onshore winds take a breather, giving us a break from the rain. In the southwest, we've got a trough making its way into southeastern Queensland tonight, but don't worry, it's going to lose its oomph by Monday. A second trough will be joining the party in the southwest on Tuesday, making its way north across southern and central Queensland on Tuesday and Wednesday. And just when you thought it was safe to go outside, there's potential for it to spread into northern Queensland by Thursday. So, stay safe out there, folks, especially with all these troughs and ridges causing a ruckus. Keep an eye out for any storms or heatwaves headed our way and make sure to take necessary precautions to stay out of harm's way. Stay cool, Queensland!

NSW and ACT:

Well, it appears we have a classic case of a trough loitering in the northeast while a high pressure ridge decides to throw a party in the rest of the state. This trough seems to be in no rush to move along, planning to stick around for a few days before finally deciding to pack its bags and leave by mid-to-late next week. So, brace yourselves for some stormy days ahead and keep cool during those heatwaves. Stay safe out there!

VIC:

Well, brace yourself for some scorching days ahead as a stubborn high pressure system lounges around the Bight like it owns the place. This ridge of high pressure is calling the shots, so expect some serious heat to stick around for a while. Keep an eye out for any sneaky inland troughs trying to stir up trouble later on. Remember, stay safe in the midst of any storm or heatwave shenanigans.

SA:

Prepare yourselves for some leisurely meandering weather patterns, as a low pressure trough takes its sweet time near the northern border before lazily making its way northeastwards over the NT and QLD. Meanwhile, a high pressure ridge will be stubbornly hanging out in the southern regions of SA. Keep in mind that this slow-moving weather system could bring about some stormy conditions and possibly even some scorching heatwaves. Stay safe out there, folks, and don't let the weather catch you off guard!

WA:

Well, it seems like Mother Nature is really stirring things up in the Pilbara and Gascoyne regions with a trough and high pressure ridge tag-teaming to bring some fresh southwesterly winds. If that's not enough excitement for you, keep an eye out for a tropical low 02U possibly making an appearance off the Kimberley or Pilbara coasts. And just when you thought things couldn't get any more interesting, there's talk of another tropical low, 05U, getting ready to show up north of the Kimberley next week. So, while we may not have the usual sunny skies and gentle breezes, it's important to stay safe and be prepared for any stormy or heatwave conditions that may come our way. Remember, it's always better to be safe than sorry when dealing with Mother Nature's mood swings. Stay safe out there, folks!

TAS:

Looks like Tasmania will continue to be hit with some wild weather in the coming days. A mix of cool winds, passing fronts, highs, lows, and troughs will be swirling around, causing potential storms and heatwaves. Make sure to stay safe and be prepared for whatever Mother Nature throws our way.

NT:

Ah, it appears that we have quite the weather cocktail brewing in our region. With a trough lounging over the Timor and Arafura Seas and a ridge bossing around northeastern Australia, we can expect some moody northeasterly winds blowing through the Territory. Down south, a trough will be hanging out in the southeastern parts on Sunday just to keep things interesting. Now, with all this weather drama unfolding, it's important to remember to stay safe and prepared. Storms and heatwaves can be unpredictable and potentially dangerous, so it's best to keep an eye on the forecast and take necessary precautions. Let's all weather this storm together, shall we?

Monday, 9th December

Looks like we've got some interesting weather on the horizon, with mostly sunny skies in the central and northern interior. Partly cloudy conditions are expected along the tropical east coast between Townsville and St Lawrence. Keep an eye out for isolated showers scattered around, especially in the northeast tropical coast from Cooktown to Ingham. Don't be surprised if you encounter severe thunderstorms inland south of Emerald to Gympie and east of Goondiwindi. And watch out for morning fog between Innisfail and Mackay - it could sneak up on you! Temperatures are soaring above average south of Palmerville, so be sure to stay cool and hydrated. In fact, parts of western, central, and northern Queensland are experiencing severe heatwave conditions. So remember to take care of yourself and stay safe during these stormy and hot times!

Tuesday, 10th December

Beware, fellow Queenslanders! It seems like Mother Nature is feeling a bit dramatic today. We've got a mix of sunshine, showers, and thunderstorms scattered around the state. Just a heads up, those storms could get a little feisty, so keep an eye out and stay safe. In the northern interior, it's mostly sunny - perfect weather for a picnic or a nice stroll. But in other areas, like eastern districts between Coen and the Sunshine Coast, you might want to have your umbrella handy. Showers will be popping up here and there, with some potentially turning into thunderstorms. Watch out for those severe thunderstorms in inland southern Queensland, they could bring some heavy rain. It's a bit uncertain where exactly they'll hit, but better safe than sorry, right? And let's not forget about the heatwave conditions in central and northeastern Queensland - it's going to be a scorcher out there. So, folks, remember to stay safe and hydrated in this wild weather. And maybe keep an eye out for any flying monkeys - you never know what Mother Nature has up her sleeve!

Wednesday, 11th December

Ah, it seems like Mother Nature is feeling a bit moody today, with isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms popping up all over the state. Keep an eye out for those storm clouds, especially if you're in the southeast or central Queensland areas south of Rockhampton - there's a chance of some heavy falls with those storms. And don't forget about the heatwave conditions in central and northeast Queensland - it's going to be a scorcher out there. Stay safe, folks, and make sure to stay hydrated and cool. Remember, it's always better to be safe than sorry when it comes to extreme weather like this.

Thursday, 12th December

Beware of scattered showers and thunderstorms in the state, especially in the eastern districts from Rockhampton to Cooktown. Keep an eye out for heavy falls in these areas, but don't rely too heavily on early predictions - Mother Nature likes to keep us on our toes. As if that wasn't enough excitement, temperatures will be above average in the north and southwest, while the rest of us will be feeling pretty average. Luckily, the severe heatwave in the northeast is finally taking a break. Stay safe out there, folks - it's shaping up to be an interesting week!

Region Round-up - BOM

North Tropical Coast and Tablelands

Region Forecast: Prepare yourselves for another day of potential fog in the south and a slight chance of a shower along the coast. Overnight temperatures will drop to a balmy 19-24 degrees, with daytime temperatures soaring to a scorching 30-35 degrees. Remember to stay safe in the heat and keep an eye out for any unexpected storms.

But alas, do keep an eye out for thunderstorms near the south coast in the morning - a little excitement to break up the monotony, wouldn't you say? Light winds will be frolicking about, starting from the northwest and then switching over to the northeasterly direction at a speed of 15 to 20 km/h in the morning. But fear not, for they shall become light by evening, giving us a gentle breeze to lull us to sleep. As night falls, temperatures will dip to the mid to high 20s, providing some relief from the scorching heat of the day. Speaking of which, brace yourselves for daytime temperatures soaring to the mid to high 30s - a true test of our endurance, my friends. So, in conclusion, as we navigate through this whimsical mix of sun, showers, and thunderstorms, remember to stay safe and hydrated.
