National Synoptic Situation

Max/Min/Rain for 4 days

Synoptic Situation for

QLD:

Well, looks like the Tasman Sea is playing a game of high ridge extension over our state. This high is a bit of a drift king, heading east over the next day or two, keeping that ridge in place. As a result, we can expect some drier air creeping into the far north on Sunday, with onshore winds taking a little break and reducing rainfall. But hold on to your hats, because there's a trough lurking in the southwest, ready to make its move into southeastern Queensland on Sunday. Don't worry, it'll weaken by Monday. And just when you thought it was safe to go back outside, another trough is gearing up to sweep through the southwest on Tuesday, making its way north across the state on Tuesday and Wednesday. Now, we're not trying to rain on anyone's parade, but there's a chance this second trough could spread some stormy weather into northern Queensland by Thursday. So, folks, stay safe out there and keep an eye on those forecasts. It's all fun and games until Mother Nature decides to throw a heatwave or a storm your way.

NSW and ACT:

Hold onto your hats, folks, because a bunch of troughs are making their way through NSW today. And guess what? On Sunday, the last trough will hit the northeast before a high pressure ridge takes over the rest of the state. This pesky trough is going to stick around in the northeast for a few days before finally making a run for it by the middle to end of next week. So, stay safe out there and be prepared for some stormy weather and possible heatwaves.

VIC:

Get ready to buckle up, folks, as a low pressure trough makes its way over the Tasman Sea. This will bring some stormy weather and heatwaves as a milder southwesterly airstream follows. A high pressure system will then swoop in, creating a ridge over Victoria and Bass Strait. This ridge will be calling the shots for the next few days, but don't let your guard down just yet. An inland trough might sneak in on Tuesday, stirring up some more chaos. Stay safe out there!

SA:

Well, brace yourselves for some wild weather as a low pressure trough sweeps through parts of WA and SA, bringing with it the potential for storms and heatwaves. This trough is set to slowly make its way northeastwards, causing some havoc along the way. Meanwhile, a high pressure ridge will be hanging out in the south of SA, probably sipping on a cold drink and enjoying the show. So, if you find yourself in the path of these stormy conditions or blistering heatwaves, it's probably a good idea to stay safe and take necessary precautions. After all, it's better to be safe than sorry when Mother Nature decides to throw a tantrum.

WA:

Well, it seems like Mother Nature is feeling a bit moody this week. A high pressure ridge is sauntering in from the west, causing some fresh southwesterly winds in the western Pilbara. Meanwhile, there's a trough stretching from the inland central Pilbara into the Interior, making things a bit unsettled in those parts. And just when you thought things couldn't get more interesting, a tropical low is planning to crash the party over offshore waters northwest of the Kimberley coast later this weekend. This uninvited guest is expected to stick around and move west offshore from the Pilbara coast during the following week. So, brace yourself for some stormy weather and potential heatwaves in the coming days. Remember to stay safe and keep an eye on those weather updates. Mother Nature may be unpredictable, but that doesn't mean we can't be prepared.

TAS:

Hold onto your hats, Tasmania! A cold front is swooping in, bringing cooler winds from the west and south-west. But don't get too comfortable, Victoria is building a ridge on Sunday - only to weaken on Monday, calming things down. However, Tuesday morning brings another weak cold front to Tasmania, followed by a broad trough on Wednesday. So, keep an eye out for storms and heatwaves, and remember to stay safe out there!

NT:

Well, it seems like Mother Nature is feeling a little moody lately, with a trough causing some drama over the Timor and Arafura Seas. Meanwhile, a ridge in northeastern Australia is playing matchmaker, directing some steamy northeasterly winds throughout the Territory. Down south, a trough is lurking around like a party pooper, planning to crash the southeastern parts on Sunday. So, if you're planning to venture out, be prepared for some stormy conversations and heatwave-like conditions. Remember to stay safe and hydrated, because Mother Nature doesn't mess around when she's in one of her moods.

Sunday, 8th December

Prepare for a smorgasbord of weather delights across Queensland today. We've got everything from scattered showers to possible severe thunderstorms, morning fog, and some above-average temperatures to really keep you on your toes. In the central and northern interior, it's mostly sunny - a perfect opportunity to work on your tan while keeping an eye out for any unexpected storms. And if you're in South East Queensland, be sure to brace yourself for some scattered showers and thunderstorms later in the day. Possible severe thunderstorms are on the menu in southern and central Queensland, so stay safe and keep an eye on the sky. To top it all off, we've got severe heatwave conditions in parts of western, central, and northern Queensland. So, stay hydrated, slap on that sunscreen, and maybe consider investing in a portable air conditioner if you haven't already. Remember, while Mother Nature may be showing off her range of weather tricks today, it's always important to stay safe and prepared for whatever she throws your way.

Monday, 9th December

Prepare yourself for some scorching temperatures and the possibility of severe thunderstorms in certain areas of Queensland. If you find yourself in the central and northern interior, you might just catch a glimpse of the sun peeking through the clouds. But don't let that fool you, as isolated showers could pop up unexpectedly. And if you happen to be between Townsville and St Lawrence on the tropical east coast, expect some partly cloudy conditions to roll in. For those brave souls venturing inland south of Emerald to Gympie or east of Goondiwindi, be on the lookout for those possible severe thunderstorms. And if you're between Cooktown and Ingham on the northeast tropical coast, don't be surprised if you only encounter showers. But wait, there's more! Morning fog may make an appearance between Innisfail and Mackay, adding an extra layer of excitement to your day. And let's not forget about the severe heatwave conditions in western, central, and northern Queensland. Stay safe out there and remember to keep cool during these scorching times.

Tuesday, 10th December

The skies are feeling a bit moody today, with some areas getting a sprinkle of rain and others getting a full-blown storm. If you're in the central and southern parts of Queensland, buckle up for some potential thunder and heavy downpours - Mother Nature is feeling a bit feisty. Don't forget your sunscreen if you're in the northern interior, where it's mostly sunny. And if you're in the central and northeastern parts, be sure to stay hydrated and seek shade because a severe heatwave is on the horizon. Remember, safety first - keep an eye out for those storms and heatwaves, and make sure to take precautions to stay safe.

Wednesday, 11th December

Watch out for some scattered showers and thunderstorms across the state, with a few sprinkles hanging out in the northeast tropical coast. Showers will be having a party in the southeast and central Queensland, so be prepared for some heavy rainfall and thunderstorms - but who really knows where they'll strike? Temperatures will be sizzling above average in the east, while cooling down below average in the south and inland central Queensland. Don't forget about the severe heatwave conditions in central and northeast Queensland - it's going to be hotter than a jalapeño eating contest! Stay safe out there, folks. And remember, when it rains, it pours - both literally and figuratively.

Daytime temperatures are expected to soar to 28 to 34 degrees, so be prepared for a scorcher.
