State conditions

QLD:

Watch out, folks! There's a sneaky trough making its way across Queensland, causing some mischief along the way. This trough is no joke - it's set to bring storms and heatwaves to the east of the state over the weekend. And just when you thought it was gone, it's coming back even stronger next week. So, stay safe out there and make sure you're prepared for whatever this mischievous trough throws your way. Remember, it's always better to be safe than sorry when dealing with unpredictable weather patterns.

NSW and ACT:

Well, it seems like northeast New South Wales is in for a bit of a weather rollercoaster today. We've got a trough and cold front making their way through, while a high pressure system is stretching its ridge across the state's south and west. As this high gradually moves towards the Tasman Sea over Sunday and Monday, we'll have a lingering trough hanging out in the inland. And just when you thought things might settle down, a new high will be approaching from the west. But wait, there's more! We've got a series of weak troughs heading towards the southern and central parts of the coast in the next few days, along with some cold fronts passing by to the south. And just when you thought you could relax, a more substantial change is expected to arrive later in the week. So, stay safe out there folks, and keep an eye out for any storms or heatwaves that might come your way. And remember, Mother Nature can be a bit unpredictable, so it's always best to be prepared.

VIC:

Well, it seems like we're in for some fun weather in the coming days. A high pressure ridge will be taking over the State until early next week, bringing with it the potential for some stormy conditions. Then, on Monday, a trough will deepen over the State and a cold front will cross Tasmania overnight into Tuesday, so be prepared for some intense weather. But fear not, as a new ridge of high pressure will swoop in on Tuesday and stick around until Wednesday. Just remember to stay safe and keep an eye out for any storm or heatwave warnings.

SA:

Hold onto your hats, folks, because a ridge of high pressure is making itself comfortable in South Australia, bringing with it the potential for some stormy weather. Just when you thought it was safe to go outside, a weak trough is sneaking up on the southeast this morning, with another one planning to crash the party on Monday. So, stay safe out there and don't let the storms or heatwaves catch you off guard.

WA:

Well, it seems like a sluggish trough is just casually hanging out from inland Pilbara to the North Interior. Just a heads up, this could mean some stormy weather or scorching heatwaves coming your way. Remember to stay safe and prepared for whatever this lazy trough decides to throw at you.

TAS:

Prepare yourselves, dear Tasmanians, for a rollercoaster of weather events in the coming days. Brace yourselves for the drama of a cold front clearing to the east today, followed by the arrival of a trough on Sunday. And just when you thought you could catch your breath, a cold front will make its grand entrance on Monday evening, followed by a weak ridge later in the day. But wait, there's more! Another cold front will sweep in from the west on Wednesday, adding to the excitement. In the midst of these weather theatrics, it's important to remember to stay safe. With storms and heatwaves potentially on the horizon, it's crucial to take precautions and be prepared for any weather-related challenges that may come your way. So hold on tight, Tasmania, and weather the storm with caution and care.

NT:

Looks like the weather is feeling a bit indecisive in the southern NT, with a ridge extending and a trough making its slow way through central districts. Keep an eye out for any stormy surprises or heatwaves headed your way and remember to stay safe out there!

Sunday, 29th December

Hold onto your hats, folks! Central and southeast Queensland are in for a bit of a wild ride with isolated to scattered showers and the chance of thunderstorms. Keep an eye out for severe thunderstorms, especially in parts of central and southeastern Queensland. Meanwhile, the southwest quarter of the state will be mostly sunny. Temperatures are going to be above average or well above average in the northwest, central inland, and most southern parts of the state. However, the far southwest will be spared from the heat. Severe heatwave conditions will continue for the northern and central interior, as well as parts of the southeast. Stay safe out there and remember to keep cool during these stormy and sweltering conditions!

Monday, 30th December

Buckle up, Queenslanders! Expect some scattered showers and the possibility of thunderstorms in certain parts of the state. Keep an eye out for those severe thunderstorms lurking in the central and southeastern interior. If you're in the southwest, enjoy the sunshine while you can! Don't be fooled by the heatwave conditions in central and northern districts - stay cool and hydrated, folks. And remember, it's always better to be safe than sorry when it comes to unpredictable weather patterns. Stay safe out there!

Tuesday, 31st December

Beware, Queenslanders! There's a smattering of showers and thunderstorms heading your way, particularly in the central and southeast regions. Keep an eye out for those pesky thunderstorms, especially in the southeastern parts where they could get a bit rowdy. And don't forget about the scorching temperatures - they're reaching above average or even well above in some areas, except for the southeast where they're slightly below. Stay safe out there, folks, and don't let the heatwave catch you off guard in the northern interior.

Wednesday, 1st January

Hold onto your hats, Queensland! It's going to be a wild ride of scattered showers and thunderstorms across the state, with a chance of some serious heatwave action in the mix. Showers will be playing hide and seek in central and southeast Queensland, while the northern regions will be getting a good soaking (except for the North West, they're safe for now). Be prepared for the southeast to turn into a waterpark on Wednesday, and the far north to follow suit on Thursday and Friday. By Thursday, showers and thunderstorms will be marching westward across the state, with only the very far southwest escaping the chaos. Temperatures will be cranking up to above average or well above average in the northwestern, central interior, and most southern parts of the state. The southeast, however, will be keeping it cool with slightly below average temps. Watch out for severe heatwave conditions in the northern interior districts - it's going to be a scorcher out there! Stay safe, Queenslanders, and remember to keep cool and hydrated during this stormy and heatwave-ridden weather. It's all fun and games until someone gets sunburned - so take care out there!
