National Synoptic Situation

Max/Min/Rain for 4 days

Synoptic Situation for

QLD:

Looks like we've got some interesting weather patterns coming up in Queensland. A coastal trough and weak low are hanging around, but they'll be moving on up north soon. Moist onshore winds are going to be getting stronger along the east coast, so watch out for some stormy weather. And up north, there might be some extra rainfall thanks to a developing equatorial trough. As the weekend rolls around, a weak ridge will be chilling along the east coast, while a new trough heads towards western Queensland. Stay safe out there, folks, and keep an eye out for any storms or heatwaves!

NSW and ACT:

Hold onto your hats, Queenslanders! It seems like Mother Nature is throwing a bit of a tantrum with a high pressure system over the Tasman Sea and a coastal trough causing some trouble along the coast. And let's not forget about that cold front making its way across the central areas - batten down the hatches! But fear not, after all this chaos, a new high pressure system is coming to save the day and bring some relief. So just when you thought it was safe to go outside, make sure to stay safe and keep cool as the hot northerly airstream returns before the next cold front arrives. Remember, it's all fun and games until someone gets caught in a storm or heatwave, so be prepared and stay safe out there!

VIC:

As the cold front bids Victoria adieu and heads over to the Tasman Sea, a high pressure system in the Bight decides to slowly creep in and extend its ridge over our lovely state. This high pressure centre will be making its way towards the west of Tasmania by late Wednesday, just taking its sweet time. But wait, there's more! The high will then decide to move away to the southeast on Thursday and Friday, just like that friend who always leaves the party early. An inland trough will also be making an appearance from the north, bringing some interesting weather our way. To add to the excitement, the trough will be drifting eastwards on Saturday while another high pressure ridge sneaks up from the south of the Bight. It's like a game of weather chess out there! So, in the midst of all this weather drama, remember to stay safe and be prepared for any stormy surprises or heatwaves that may come your way. And who said meteorology wasn't entertaining?

SA:

Looks like we've got some interesting weather patterns coming our way this week. A trough is just hanging out near the far northeast of the state, while a high pressure system is making its way southeast from the Bight. On Friday, a trough of low pressure will swing by the southeast before a ridge of high pressure takes over for the weekend. With all these changes in the atmosphere, it's important to stay safe and be prepared for any storms or heatwaves that may come our way.

WA:

Watch out, folks! It seems that Mother Nature is feeling a bit moody up in northern WA with a broad area of low pressure hanging around. And guess what? Things are about to heat up even more as a dry easterly flow moves in, pushing that trough closer to the coast and bringing back those oh-so-fun heatwave conditions. So, stay safe out there and make sure to keep cool during this stormy and sizzling time.

TAS:

Hold onto your hats, Tasmania! We've got some wild winds coming our way as a high pressure system in the Bight decides to make a grand entrance. As this system slowly moves southeast, a weak trough is sneaking up on us from the west, ready to cause some mischief on Friday and hang around the northeast on Saturday. So, grab your umbrellas and sunscreen, because it's going to be a bumpy ride! Stay safe out there, folks.

NT:

Well, brace yourselves, Northern Territory residents, because it looks like Mother Nature is cranking up the heat with a broad area of low pressure and a looming heatwave. It's going to feel like the surface of the sun out there, so make sure you stay safe and hydrated. And don't forget to secure your belongings, because with a ridge developing in the south, there may be some stormy weather headed our way. Stay cool and stay safe out there!

Wednesday, 18th December

Well, it seems like the Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders, Central West, North West, and Channel Country are in for some scorching temperatures. Keep cool and stay safe out there, folks. And watch out for any stormy weather that may be heading your way.

Thursday, 19th December

Hold onto your hats, folks, because we've got a mixed bag of weather coming our way. There's a chance of thunderstorms in the southwest and southern interior, so make sure to stay safe and cozy indoors. In other areas, we may see scattered showers and the occasional thunderstorm popping up. And don't forget about the potential for severe thunderstorms with heavy rainfall in certain parts of the east. If that wasn't enough, temperatures are soaring above average in the west and northeast, while dropping below average in the east. The North West district is even experiencing severe heatwave conditions, so be sure to stay hydrated and cool. Mother Nature sure does have a sense of humor with this wacky weather, but let's all stay safe and weather the storm together.

Friday, 20th December

Prepare for a mishmash of weather patterns across Queensland today. From isolated showers to potential thunderstorms, Mother Nature is certainly keeping us on our toes. In the southern inland, you may experience some partly cloudy skies with a chance of a thunderstorm in the southwest - just to keep things interesting. Don't be surprised if you encounter scattered showers and thunderstorms in other areas as well. However, near the coast south of Bundaberg, showers are expected to be very isolated. So, if you're planning a beach day, you might just get lucky. For those living along the tropical east coast north of Rockhampton and parts of Far North Queensland, be prepared for widespread showers and possible heavy rainfall with storms. It's like Mother Nature is throwing a party and everyone's invited. As for temperatures, expect some highs above or well above average in the far west, but near or below average elsewhere. In the northeast and northern interior south of the Daintree, temperatures are forecasted to be well below average. So, if you're looking to beat the heat, head to the cooler regions. Lastly, for those in northwest Queensland, the severe heatwave conditions are finally easing up. Stay safe out there and remember to keep an eye out for any storm warnings. Mother Nature doesn't mess around, so it's best to be prepared.

Saturday, 21st December

Hold onto your hats, folks! It's shaping up to be a wild one out there today. We've got some partly cloudy skies down south with a chance of showers and thunderstorms - don't forget your umbrella and rubber ducky just in case. Over in eastern and southeast Queensland, it's mostly sunny with a touch of class south of Yeppoon. But watch out for those isolated showers and thunderstorms lurking around central and northern Queensland - they're sneaky little devils. If you're up north, you might want to batten down the hatches because there's a chance of widespread showers and areas of rain along the tropical east coast. And don't even get me started on the heavy rainfall and storms brewing in the eastern tropics - it's like a water park out there! Now, let's talk temperatures. We've got some above-average highs in the far west and inland southern Queensland, but things are cooling off in the northeast and northern interior. And hey, good news for those in far northwest Queensland - the severe heatwave conditions are finally starting to ease. So, stay safe out there, folks. Keep an eye on the skies, stay hydrated, and maybe invest in a good pair of galoshes. And remember, when in doubt, just stay indoors and binge-watch some educational documentaries. Mother Nature can be a real drama queen, but we'll get through this together.
