National Synoptic Situation

Max/Min/Rain for 4 days

Synoptic Situation for

QLD:

Looks like we've got some interesting weather patterns happening around Queensland in the next few days. There's a coastal trough and weak low just hanging out near the central and southeast coast, which means we might see some extra rain and thunderstorms popping up. And don't forget about that ridge down south - it's going to be pushing some moist onshore winds our way, so get ready for some humidity! But wait, there's more! An equatorial trough might be making an appearance up north, and a new trough is creeping into western Queensland. It's like a weather party all over the state! So, folks, remember to stay safe out there. With all these storms and potential heatwaves on the horizon, it's important to keep an eye on the weather and take precautions. Mother Nature doesn't mess around, so let's be prepared!

NSW and ACT:

Well, it seems like Mother Nature is really cranking up the heat in our inland areas. A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea is teaming up with a cold front from the west to blast us with some scorching northerly winds. But hold onto your hats, because a cool and gusty southerly change is on the horizon, bringing some relief to the far southwest on Monday and spreading its chill to most areas on Tuesday, before finally hitting the northeast on Wednesday. But wait, there's more! A new high pressure system is set to saunter over from the Bight to the southern Tasman Sea, extending a ridge over the eastern districts while a trough throws some shade in the west. So batten down the hatches and stay safe out there, folks. Don't let the storms and heatwaves catch you off guard!

VIC:

Well, it seems like Victoria is about to experience some classic weather shenanigans - a cold front is making its way through the western parts of the state, ready to cause some mischief in the central districts later on. Meanwhile, a high pressure system in the Bight is trying to keep things in check, but we all know how unpredictable those high pressure systems can be. As the week progresses, the high pressure centre will be doing a slow dance towards Tasmania, leaving Victoria to deal with an inland trough coming in from the north. It's like a game of weather chess, with the pieces constantly moving around the board. So, if you find yourself caught in the middle of a storm or heatwave, remember to stay safe and keep an eye on the ever-changing forecast. Mother nature may have a sense of humor, but she's not one to mess with when it comes to extreme weather.

SA:

Well, it seems like we're in for a rollercoaster of weather events this week. A trough is making its way across the northeast, bringing some relief from the heat down south. As if that wasn't enough, a high pressure system is set to hang out near the Bight, then casually drift southeast. Just when you thought it was safe to go outside, a low pressure trough is sneaking up on the southeast, followed by a high pressure ridge. So, while it may feel like the weather is playing a game of musical chairs, remember to stay safe and prepared for any storms or heatwaves that may come your way. Just when you think you've got it all figured out, Mother Nature likes to throw us a curveball. Stay safe out there, folks!

WA:

Hold onto your hats, folks (but not too tight, we don't want to contribute to any potential stormy weather)! A large region of low pressure is currently hanging out up north in Western Australia. This low pressure system is causing some dry easterly winds to start blowing in from Wednesday onwards. These winds will push the trough closer to the coast, leading to a return of those scorching heatwave conditions we all know and love (or maybe not love so much). So, remember to stay safe and hydrated as we ride out this stormy heatwave combo!

TAS:

Hold onto your hats, Tasmania! A hot and gusty northerly wind is blowing in, followed by a cold front that's going to cool things down. But don't get too comfortable, because a trough is coming through with some strong southwesterly winds. Just when you think it's safe to go outside, a high pressure system is moving in, changing up the wind direction yet again. And just to keep things interesting, a weak trough is on the horizon for Friday. So, while you're enjoying the rollercoaster of weather this week, remember to stay safe and prepared for any storms or heatwaves that may come your way. Stay indoors if the weather gets too extreme and make sure you're stocked up on supplies. Mother Nature may have a sense of humor, but that doesn't mean we can't take precautions. Stay safe out there, Tasmania!

NT:

Well, it looks like Mother Nature is feeling a bit moody in the Northern Territory, with a broad area of low pressure causing some trouble. It seems she's turning up the heat as well, with temperatures soaring across large parts of the Territory, causing a rather unpleasant heatwave. And just to add to the fun, a ridge is set to develop across southern NT from Tuesday. So, folks, make sure to stay safe and cool during this stormy and scorching hot time.

Tuesday, 17th December

Well, it seems like the Central West, North West, and Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders regions will be experiencing some rather toasty temperatures today. So, if you find yourself in these areas, make sure to stay hydrated and seek shade to avoid getting cooked alive. And oh, don't forget about the potential for storms brewing in the distance. Stay safe out there!

Wednesday, 18th December

Get ready to bask in the glorious sunshine in far southwest Queensland, where the clouds are feeling only partly motivated to make an appearance. Elsewhere, the skies are feeling a bit more generous, with isolated to scattered showers and even the chance of a thunderstorm. Showers may decide to throw a party and become widespread, especially around the east coast south of Mackay and across the far northern Cape York Peninsula and Torres Strait. But hold onto your hats (or umbrellas), because things could get a bit wild with possible severe thunderstorms and heavy rainfall in eastern districts south of Ingham and the northern Peninsula and Torres Strait. It's like the weather is throwing a tantrum and we're just along for the ride. And don't even get me started on the temperatures. Maximum temperatures are above or well above average in the west, making it feel like you're melting into a puddle. In most of the interior and northeast, temperatures are also above average, so you might want to invest in a good fan or some ice cream. But safety first, folks. With severe heatwave conditions in the west and the tropical northeast coast, and things reaching extreme levels in the North West district, it's important to stay cool, hydrated, and sun-safe. So grab your sunscreen, stay indoors if you can, and whatever you do, don't challenge the weather to a duel. It's not worth it. Stay safe out there!

Thursday, 19th December

Prepare for a mixed bag of weather today, with a sprinkle of showers and the potential for some fiery thunderstorms in certain areas. Don't be surprised if you find yourself dodging raindrops in the southwest and southern interior, while the southeast might just get a light drizzle. Keep an eye out for those pesky thunderstorms wreaking havoc in eastern districts, especially between Ingham and Rockhampton. As if that wasn't enough excitement for one day, temperatures will be cranking up to above-average levels in the west and northeast, while the east south of Townsville gets a bit of a break with cooler temps. If you happen to be in the west or on the tropical northeast coast, be sure to stay hydrated and seek shelter from the scorching sun - it's going to be a real scorcher out there. So, whether you're facing a thunderstorm or battling the heatwave, remember to stay safe and take precautions to protect yourself from Mother Nature's unpredictable mood swings.

Friday, 20th December

Prepare yourselves for a rollercoaster of weather today, with a mix of showers, thunderstorms, and possible heavy rainfall in various parts of Queensland. While some areas may be lucky enough to escape the worst of it, others may not be so fortunate. Maximum temperatures are expected to be either scorching in the west or surprisingly cool in the east. If you find yourself caught in a storm or heatwave, remember to stay safe and take necessary precautions. It's always better to be safe than sorry when it comes to Mother Nature's unpredictable moods. Stay hydrated, seek shelter if needed, and keep an eye on any weather warnings in your area. Let's all weather this storm together!

Temperatures are expected to be well above average, especially in the west and northeast, with heatwave conditions in the northwest and tropical northeast coast.
