National Synoptic Situation

Max/Min/Rain for 4 days

Synoptic Situation for

QLD:

Looks like Mother Nature is feeling a bit moody this week, with a weak ridge causing some unstable and humid conditions in the west and south of the state. And let's not forget about the heatwave conditions in central and northeast Queensland - it's like an oven out there! As if that wasn't enough, we've got a trough coming in to stir things up even more. It's going to bring some much-needed rain, but it's also going to ramp up the storm activity. So, folks, make sure you stay safe and keep an eye on the weather warnings. It's going to be a bumpy ride!

NSW and ACT:

Hold onto your hats, folks! We've got a trough causing a ruckus up in the northeast, while a high pressure ridge is lounging around in the southern and central areas. But wait, there's more - a second trough is planning to saunter along the coast on Tuesday, bringing along a fresh coastal southerly wind change. This change will not only reinforce the existing trough up north, but also jazz up the area with some extra showers and thunderstorms. But that's not all, folks! The southerly change will then make its way over to Queensland by Wednesday, while another trough decides to hang out in the northern inland later in the week. Meanwhile, a weak high pressure ridge will be chilling in the east and far west. So, while Mother Nature decides to throw a little tantrum with storms and heatwaves, make sure to stay safe and dry out there!

VIC:

Well, it looks like Victoria is in for some fun times ahead with a stubborn high-pressure system lording over us like a strict teacher. Expect days of scorching heat and possible storms as this weather bully shows off its dominance. Remember to stay safe and hydrated during this weather showdown.

SA:

Ah, it seems our dear old ridge is cozying up to the southern parts of the state, bringing along its high pressure buddy for a visit. But don't get too comfortable, because by Thursday, that high will start to lose its grip, leaving us with a rather feeble pressure gradient across the state. Now, I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but with all this talk of weakening highs and feeble pressure gradients, it's important to stay safe out there. You never know when Mother Nature might decide to throw a storm or heatwave our way. So, keep an eye on the forecast and make sure you're prepared for whatever she has in store.

WA:

Attention all, brace yourselves for some potential stormy weather up north! There's a low pressure system hanging out over the northern regions, with a tropical low 05U possibly brewing near the Kimberley soon. If this system decides to show up, it might just make its way towards the Kimberley and Pilbara coasts in a southwest direction. So, stay safe out there and be prepared for some wild weather ahead!

TAS:

Well, buckle up Tasmania, because it looks like we're in for a wild ride this week! A ridge of high pressure is keeping things interesting with a mostly westerly airstream. But don't get too comfortable, because a weak cold front is sneaking in on Tuesday morning followed by a stronger front on Wednesday. With all these fronts and lows passing through, we could be in for some stormy weather. So be sure to stay safe and prepared for any unexpected heatwaves or sudden changes in the forecast. Mother Nature is definitely keeping us on our toes this week!

NT:

Well, it seems like Mother Nature is up to her old tricks again, with a trough over the Timor and Arafura Seas gradually losing its strength. As a broad area of low pressure decides to make itself at home across northern Australia, we can expect some changes in the weather. High humidity in southern and central parts of the NT will give way to drier southeasterly winds, making their way northwards from Wednesday. With a high moving across the Bight, it's like a game of weather chess being played out in front of us. So, while we may not be facing any storm of the century or heatwave of epic proportions, it's always important to stay safe and prepared for whatever weather may come our way. Stay cool, stay hydrated, and keep an eye on those weather updates. Mother Nature can be quite the unpredictable opponent, after all.

Tuesday, 10th December

Watch out for some interesting weather today! You might encounter some scattered showers and thunderstorms in certain areas, with the potential for heavy rainfall and severe thunderstorms. If you happen to be in the northeast, be prepared for some above-average temperatures and severe heatwave conditions. Stay safe and stay cool out there!

Wednesday, 11th December

Prepare for a mix of sunshine and scattered showers and thunderstorms across Queensland, with a chance of some areas experiencing heavy rainfall due to storms. Some regions may face above-average temperatures, while others will see near or below-average conditions. Stay safe in the severe heatwave conditions in northeast Queensland and be cautious of potential storms and heatwaves in other areas. Remember to take necessary precautions to ensure your safety during these weather events.

Thursday, 12th December

Bask in the sun south of Mount Isa to Longreach and west of St George, as scattered showers and thunderstorms will be crashing the party elsewhere. Keep an eye out for those sneaky showers turning into widespread rain in eastern districts between Rockhampton and Innisfail and over the northern interior, with a chance of heavy falls. But hey, who knows - it's all a bit up in the air at this early stage. Temperatures will be playing it cool in western and southern Queensland, as well as the northern Peninsula and Daintree coast - just slightly above average. Meanwhile, the rest of us will be feeling below average. Good news for those in the far northeast - the severe heatwave conditions are finally starting to chill out. Remember, when it comes to storms and heatwaves, safety first!

Friday, 13th December

Looks like Mother Nature is throwing a bit of a tantrum today! You might want to pack your umbrella and sunscreen, folks, because we've got some stormy weather ahead. In western Queensland, from Richmond to Charleville, it's mostly sunny - but don't let that fool you. There are isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms lurking around, ready to crash the party. And if you're on the Central Coast or northeast tropical coast north of Townsville, you might want to grab your raincoat because there's some widespread rain headed your way. Temperatures are playing a little game of hide and seek today. They're near or slightly above average in western and southern Queensland, as well as the far northern Peninsula. But if you're anywhere else, you can expect them to be below average. So, stay safe out there and make sure you're prepared for whatever Mother Nature decides to throw your way!
