El Nino - What and when

There has been a lot posted and published about El Nino. Let's start by saying, El Nino is not really difficult to forecast, it comes after a La Nina. A La Nina typically lasts 2 years, and in some instances 3 years like the last one. So we know the next season is more than likely going to be El Nino. We also know the Northern Hemisphere has set the ENSO status to El Nino, which means the date at which the BOM will also call an El Nino is close.
