National

Looks like Mother Nature is playing Tetris with a high pressure system in the Tasman Sea, creating a firm ridge across our beloved state. This means cooler southeasterly winds will be blowing through eastern and southern Queensland, giving us a break from the scorching heat. But don't get too comfortable, folks. Northerly winds will swoop in later in the week, bringing back the warmth to the south and west. And just when you thought you could plan that weekend BBQ, a sneaky trough decides to crash the party over southern Queensland, bringing showers and maybe even some thunderstorms. It's like nature's way of keeping us on our toes. So grab your umbrella and sunscreen, because it's going to be an interesting week ahead.

National 4 Day Forecast

Windy.com NEW ACCESS 4 Day Accumulated Rain and Synoptic

Thursday, 5th September

Watch out for those flames, they're not just for toasting marshmallows! Western Queensland is experiencing some rather high fire dangers at the moment. So be sure to keep your matches and lighters safely tucked away, unless you're planning on auditioning for a role in a disaster movie. Stay safe out there, folks!

Friday, 6th September

Well, folks, it looks like we're in for a mixed bag of weather across the state today. Expect plenty of sunshine, but don't be surprised if you encounter some isolated showers on the east coast and inland north of Bundaberg. And if you happen to be in the Central Coast or north of Ingham, you might want to pack an umbrella as showers are expected to become more scattered. For those of you in the Daintree and Cassowary coasts, it looks like you'll be getting more than your fair share of rain today. And let's not forget about the possibility of morning fog in the southeast - a classic weather phenomenon that always keeps us on our toes. Oh, and a quick heads up - those fresh to strong and gusty north to northeasterly winds could lead to elevated fire dangers in the western interior. So maybe hold off on that backyard bonfire for now. And lastly, if you're in the southwest or southern interior, be prepared for temperatures that are a bit above average. Time to break out the sunscreen and crank up the air conditioning, folks!

Saturday, 7th September

Looks like Mother Nature is feeling a bit indecisive today, with some areas getting a nice dose of sunshine while others are getting a surprise shower. In the east coast and inland north of Gladstone, you might want to keep an umbrella handy for those isolated showers. Further north, from Ingham to the Daintree and Cassowary Coasts, it looks like things are getting a bit more serious with showers becoming more scattered to widespread. And in the southwest and southern interior, temperatures are soaring above average - looks like someone turned up the heat! Stay prepared for whatever Mother Nature throws our way today!

Sunday, 8th September

Get ready for another day of sunshine across most of the state, because apparently Mother Nature didn't get the memo about mixing things up a bit. Expect some isolated showers on the east coast, because we can't have a completely predictable forecast, can we? Showers will be scattered to widespread in some areas, because why not keep us on our toes? And just to keep things interesting, there will be some cloud and patchy rain in the far southwest, because who doesn't love a surprise late in the day? Oh, and don't forget, temperatures will be above average in the south, because apparently Mother Nature is feeling a bit rebellious today. So grab your sunscreen and your umbrella, because you never know what she'll throw at us next!

Regional Round-Up

North Tropical Coast and Tablelands

Looks like Mother Nature is feeling a bit moody today, with a high chance of showers and some gusty easterly winds to add to the drama. Don't forget to pack your umbrella and hold onto your hats! Overnight, temperatures will drop to a cool 14 to 20 degrees, so you might want to snuggle up with an extra blanket. Daytime temperatures won't be much warmer, reaching only 20 to 28 degrees. So, grab your raincoat and brace yourself for a day of unpredictable weather!

Herbert and Lower Burdekin

Expect some puffy clouds today, with a sprinkle of showers in the north and just a hint of rain elsewhere. Winds will be blowing from the east at a moderate 20 to 30 km/h. Temperatures will drop overnight to a cozy 14 to 19, then climb back up to a pleasant 23 to 29 during the day. So, grab your umbrella just in case, but don't forget your sunglasses too!

Central Coast and Whitsundays

Looks like Mother Nature is feeling a bit indecisive today, with a mix of clouds and a mediocre chance of rain. So grab your umbrella and hold onto your hats, because those easterly winds are blowing at a brisk 25 to 35 km/h. As the night creeps in, temperatures will drop to a chilly 14 to 18 degrees, so you might want to snuggle up with an extra blanket. During the day, things will warm up slightly to a range of 24 to 29 degrees, giving us a taste of that classic unpredictable weather. So, get ready to embrace the elements and enjoy the ride as we navigate through another day of weather shenanigans.

Peninsula

Get your umbrellas ready, folks! There's a slight chance of showers in the east, but don't bother packing your raincoat anywhere else. Winds will be blowing from the east at a brisk 25 to 35 km/h, so hold onto your hats! Overnight temperatures will drop to a balmy 18 to 22 degrees, while daytime temperatures will soar to a scorching 29 to 35 degrees. Stay cool out there!

Enjoy the heat while it lasts, because who knows what tomorrow will bring!

Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders

So, grab your sunscreen and maybe a light jacket for those evening chills. Enjoy the weather rollercoaster!

Capricornia

Looks like Mother Nature is feeling a bit indecisive today, with a slight chance of a shower near the coast and pretty much no chance anywhere else. So, if you're planning on heading to the beach, maybe bring an umbrella just in case - although you probably won't need it. Winds will be coming from the east at a moderate 15 to 25 km/h, so hold onto your hats, folks. Overnight temperatures will be dropping to a chilly 9 degrees in some areas, so make sure to grab an extra blanket before bed. Daytime temperatures will be reaching the mid to high 20s, so maybe pack a light jacket for those cooler moments. Overall, it's shaping up to be a typical day in the world of weather, with a mix of clouds and sunshine and a slim chance of rain. Stay tuned for updates, but don't hold your breath for any major weather events - unless you're trying to cool off, in which case, maybe do hold your breath. Just kidding, don't do that. Stay safe out there, folks!

Central Highlands and Coalfields

There may be a slight possibility of rain in the northeast, but don't get too excited - everywhere else is pretty much staying dry. Winds will be doing a little dance from east to northeasterly to east to southeasterly before settling on east to northeasterly in the morning. Overnight, temperatures will drop to a crisp 9 to 13 degrees, while daytime temperatures will climb to the mid to high 20s. So grab your sunscreen and umbrella, just in case Mother Nature decides to throw a curveball our way.

Central West

Prepare yourself for another day of blinding sunshine, with winds coming from the east to northeasterly direction at speeds of 25 to 35 km/h. As night falls, temperatures will drop to a chilly 11 to 15 degrees, only to rise again during the day to a scorching 30 degrees. So remember to grab your sunscreen and stay hydrated, unless you want to be mistaken for a lobster by the end of the day.

North West

Get ready to sweat buckets as the sun shines down upon us, with winds blowing from the east to the northeasterly direction at speeds of 25 to 35 km/h. Expect overnight temperatures to drop to a balmy 15 to 19 degrees, before soaring back up to the low to mid 30s during the day. It's a classic case of hot and windy, so make sure to stay hydrated and maybe invest in a good fan or two.

Channel Country

Prepare yourself for a day filled with sunshine, and possibly a bit of dust flying around near the South Australian border in the afternoon. Expect brisk northeasterly winds blowing at 30 to 45 km/h. As the night rolls in, temperatures will drop to a cool 16 degrees, while daytime temperatures will soar to a balmy 30 to 35 degrees. So, grab your sunscreen and shades, because it's going to be a scorcher out there!

Maranoa and Warrego

Get ready to bask in the glory of the sun, as winds from the north to northeasterly direction will be blowing at a speedy 20 to 30 km/h. But don't worry, they'll slow down in the evening, only to pick up again at a leisurely 15 to 20 km/h late at night. Overnight, temperatures will drop to a chilly 9 to 14 degrees, so make sure to grab an extra blanket. During the day, things will heat up to a toasty 30 degrees, so prepare to sweat it out in the sun.

Darling Downs and Granite Belt

Looks like the sun will grace us with its presence today, but watch out for frost over the Granite Belt in the morning - Mother Nature sure has a sense of humor! There may also be some fog in the far east, adding a touch of mystery to the day. Light winds will start off the day, but don't be surprised if they switch to a north to northeasterly direction later on. Temperatures will drop to a chilly 5 to 10 overnight, so be sure to bundle up, but don't worry, daytime temperatures will reach the mid to high 20s, giving us a taste of warmer weather - thanks, Mother Nature!

Wide Bay and Burnett

Expect some clouds to grace the sky today, with winds deciding to switch things up and blow from the east to northeast at a moderate 15 to 20 km/h in the morning, only to take a breather and become meek by evening. Temperatures will play a game of hide and seek, dropping to a cool 8 degrees overnight but peaking in the mid 20s during the day. So grab your sunscreen and a light jacket, because you never know what mood the weather will be in today!

Southeast Coast

Looks like we've got some clouds hanging around, with a slight chance of fog down south bright and early. Expect some gentle breezes to blow through. Temperatures will drop overnight to a cozy 7-13 degrees, but fear not, we'll be climbing back up to the low to mid 20s during the day. So grab your sunglasses and maybe a light jacket for the morning chill, because it's shaping up to be another riveting day in the world of weather!
