A low-pressure system over Tasmania is causing strong winds, some showers, and large waves along the coast of New South Wales. A cold front moving in will bring more showers, rain, and thunderstorms to southwestern Western Australia. High pressure is causing a cold morning in southeastern Australia, with strong winds in the northern areas.

High pressure over Tasmania extends firm ridge, interacting with low pressure in Tasman Sea to create cool, settled southeasterly airflow over much of Queensland. Pattern continues with slow southeast movement of systems, weakening over weekend. Weak trough possible in south late weekend into early next week.
