Essential
[ ] Power banks charged
[ ] Kids entertainment (non-electronic pref)

[ ] Solid location of the house to sleep
[ ] Emergency bag of clothes for all

[ ] Leave one window slightly open, use a dowel to chock it in position. Relieves pressure inside house, also push up manhole cover

Important
[ ] Take blades off external fans
[ ] Noise cancelling earphones or noise reduction plugs
[ ] Bath or other filled with water for flushing toilet
[ ] Braced garage door (some doors have cyclone bracing, another option is mattress across the front of the car, nudge car against a mattress that is against the door)
[ ] Electrical high up, especially if in a flood-prone location
[ ] Towels for under doors, rain comes sideways
[ ] Cover air conditioner units only if they are not used
[ ] Cars undercover
[ ] Car has enough fuel
[ ] Gas in BBQ bottles topped up, helps with cooking when power out
[ ] Mould remover, dry house out straight away after
[ ] Buckets and towels for leaks
Other things to remember
[ ] Open gates and allow animals to get to higher ground
[ ] Don’t walk in waters near powerlines that are down
[ ] Don’t swim in swollen tributaries
[ ] Trees will drop branches, and debris may be flying around, stay indoors
[ ] Check on neighbours, swap mobile numbers or messenger, offer to help clean up
[ ] Do not drive through flooded waters
[ ] Clear drains,
[ ] Take out branches that might look like they are going to fall easily
