National Synoptic Situation

Synoptic Situation for

QLD:

Looks like Mother Nature is feeling a bit indecisive this week, with a weak ridge hanging out along the tropical east coast. Meanwhile, a trough is causing a ruckus over the northwest, central, and southern interior, but it's slowly making its way towards South East Queensland. But wait, there's more! A new ridge and some moist onshore winds will be joining the party from Wednesday, along with a weak coastal trough and upper trough. This means we can expect some increased rainfall along parts of the tropical east coast later in the week. So, as we brace ourselves for potential storms and heatwaves, remember to stay safe out there, folks!

NSW and ACT:

Hold onto your hats, folks! We've got a feisty cold front sweeping through the northeast of the state today, causing some havoc. Meanwhile, there's a stubborn trough lurking along the northern coast that just won't budge until late Wednesday or early Thursday. As if that wasn't enough excitement, a high-pressure ridge is setting up camp over the south of the state, courtesy of a high in the Bight. This high is slowly making its way into the southern Tasman Sea, sticking around through the weekend. With all this weather shenanigans going on, it's important to stay safe and be prepared for anything. Whether it's storms, heatwaves, or just plain old unpredictable weather, it's always better to be safe than sorry. So buckle up, grab your umbrellas, and hold onto your sunscreen โ€“ it's going to be a wild ride!

VIC:

Well, it seems like we have a high south of the Bight extending its ridge over southern Victoria. This high is planning a little vacation to the southwest of Tasmania on Tuesday and Wednesday, and then over to the southern Tasman Sea on Thursday. But don't worry, it's not abandoning us completely - it's sticking around the Tasman Sea on Friday, keeping things nice and toasty with a warm northerly flow. Just a friendly reminder to stay safe out there, especially with potential storms and heatwaves on the horizon. Keep cool and hydrated, folks!

SA:

Well, it seems like we have a high pressure system throwing its weight around over the Bight and South Australia. This high is going to take a leisurely stroll southwards on Tuesday before deciding to set up camp over the Tasman Sea on Thursday. But hold onto your hats, because a cold front and low pressure trough are planning to crash the party in the far west on Friday and then make their way eastwards over the weekend. So, brace yourselves for some stormy weather and scorching heatwaves ahead. Remember to stay safe and keep cool during these turbulent times.

WA:

Well, it seems like the Pilbara, Kimberley, and North Interior regions are in for a delightful visit from some low-pressure systems. Remember, safety first when dealing with storms and heatwaves in these areas. Keep calm and carry on, folks!

TAS:

Get ready to bask in the glory of a high pressure ridge as it saunters over the Bight and settles itself comfortably west of Tasmania. This high will then make itself at home over Tasmania, before deciding to take a leisurely stroll over the Tasman Sea and become the epitome of slow-moving on Thursday. As a result, a warm northerly flow will grace us with its presence on Friday, bringing with it some toasty temperatures. Bask in the warmth, but remember to stay safe and hydrated as the high pressure system can also bring about some intense heatwaves and potential stormy weather. So, enjoy the sun, but make sure to keep cool and sheltered when necessary.

NT:

Hold onto your hats, folks! A ridge hanging out over northern Queensland is steering some humid easterly winds our way, bringing along some scattered showers and thunderstorms up in northern NT. Meanwhile, another ridge is sending dry southeasterly winds down to southern NT, so make sure to stay hydrated and watch out for any stormy surprises. Stay safe out there, friends!

Tuesday, 19th November

Looks like we're in for some scorching temperatures up in the Channel Country. It's going to be so hot, even the kangaroos will be seeking shade. And let's not forget about those unpredictable storms that can appear out of nowhere. So, remember to stay safe and hydrated out there, folks!

Wednesday, 20th November

Looks like Mother Nature is feeling a bit moody today, with isolated to scattered showers and possible thunderstorms making an appearance across much of the state. Down in southeast Queensland, things are getting a bit more serious with scattered to widespread showers and possible moderate falls. In the far southwest, it's looking partly cloudy - maybe Mother Nature just needs a little break from all the drama elsewhere. Maximum temperatures are feeling a bit rebellious, tending below average in certain parts of the state and well below average in others. But up in the northwestern Peninsula, temperatures are still slightly above average - must be nice living on the edge. Oh, and just a heads up - there are severe heatwave conditions in the northwestern Peninsula. So, while you're out there braving the storms and heatwaves, remember to stay safe and keep cool. Mother Nature can be a real handful sometimes, but we'll make it through together.

Thursday, 21st November

Looks like Queensland is in for a mixed bag of weather today. From isolated showers to possible thunderstorms, it's all happening! Make sure to stay safe, especially if you're in the path of those heavy falls near Capricornia and Central Coast. And let's not forget about those below average temperatures in certain parts of the state. It's like Mother Nature can't make up her mind! But hey, at least the northwestern Peninsula is keeping things interesting with a good old heatwave. Just remember to stay cool and hydrated, folks. So whether you're dodging thunderstorms or trying to beat the heat, be sure to take care out there. Mother Nature can be a tricky one to predict, but as long as you're prepared, you'll weather the storm - pun intended! Stay safe, Queenslanders!

Friday, 22nd November

Watch out for scattered showers and possible thunderstorms in central, eastern, and northern Queensland. Keep an eye out for those storms north of Taroom and Rockhampton - you don't want to get caught in the rain without an umbrella! Showers might even become widespread along the east coast, so grab your raincoat just in case. In the southwest, it'll be partly cloudy - a perfect day to stay indoors and avoid any potential storms. Temperatures will be below average in most of Queensland, but don't be fooled by the slight warmth in the northwestern Peninsula - it's a heatwave out there! Make sure to stay cool and hydrated in those scorching temperatures. Stay safe out there, folks, and remember to always be prepared for whatever Mother Nature throws your way!

Region Round-up - BOM

North Tropical Coast and Tablelands

Make sure to hold onto your hats with those easterly winds blowing at 15 to 25 km/h.
