National Synoptic Situation

Synoptic Situation for

QLD:

Hold on to your hats, folks! A feeble ridge is hanging out on the east coast for a bit, but watch out - it's getting stronger as the days go by, like a toddler learning to walk. Meanwhile, a trough is stretching from northwestern Queensland to the southern interior, just chilling there for a while. A scattered cloud band is loitering over southern and central Queensland, but don't worry, it will eventually shuffle off to the east and fizzle out. Keep an eye out for that inland trough though, it's sneaking its way northeast. Oh, and don't forget about that low lurking in the Tasman Sea, it's planning on making a grand entrance and heading southeast soon. The southern part of the trough will saunter over to the southeast coast on Thursday, but it'll lose its mojo by Friday as it heads north. The inland trough is also getting in on the action, drifting west and bringing some much-needed rain to the interior. Just be prepared for it to swing back east next week, like a boomerang coming back for more. So, stay safe out there, folks! Keep an eye out for any storms or heatwaves headed your way and make sure you're prepared for whatever Mother Nature throws at you.

NSW and ACT:

Watch out, folks! We've got a trough causing chaos in inland New South Wales today, with another sneaky trough lurking off the northeast coast. This inland troublemaker will be making its way northeast by Wednesday evening, only to swing back to the western inland by Thursday. And just when you thought it couldn't get any more exciting, a cold front will be making its way down south on Thursday, bringing along a southerly change up the coast. But fear not, for a high pressure system will be extending a ridge across eastern districts by Friday, giving us a well-deserved break from the stormy shenanigans. However, don't get too comfortable, as the next cold front is gearing up to sweep across the state on Sunday and into early next week. So, stay safe out there, folks, and keep an eye out for any stormy surprises heading your way!

VIC:

Watch out for some stormy weather ahead as a low pressure trough decides to make itself at home over NSW and Victoria. This trough is expected to move east and leave the State by Wednesday, allowing a ridge to take its place in southern Victoria. But don't get too comfortable, because a high pressure system lurking south of the Bight is making its way towards Tasmania on Thursday, before venturing over the southern Tasman Sea on Friday accompanied by a cold front and trough crossing the Bight. Brace yourself for more action on Saturday afternoon and evening as the trough makes its grand entrance back into the State. Stay safe and be prepared for whatever weather shenanigans come your way!

SA:

Prepare yourselves, dear residents of South Australia, for a delightful mix of low pressure and high pressure systems dancing their way through the state. As the trough of low pressure makes its grand exit to the northeast, a high pressure system from Perth will extend its reach towards us. And let's not forget about the weak front tagging along on the southeastern flank, ready to make an appearance early Wednesday. But fear not, for the high pressure system will come to our rescue, positioning itself south of the Bight by late Wednesday and slowly making its way east towards Tasmania by Friday. So, as these weather systems play their games, remember to stay safe and snug indoors, away from any potential storms or heatwaves that may come our way. Let's weather this storm together, folks!

WA:

Looks like Mother Nature is throwing a bit of a tantrum in the Kimberley and Pilbara regions. A trough is causing some stormy weather, so be sure to batten down the hatches and stay safe. The western edge of the trough will be heading east soon, with some fresh southwesterly winds in tow. So, keep an eye out for any heatwaves or storms coming your way and make sure you're prepared for whatever the weather throws at you. Stay safe out there!

TAS:

Get ready for a rollercoaster of weather in Tasmania this week! From an approaching cold front to a lingering trough, followed by a high over the Bight making its way towards us, things are going to be heating up and cooling down faster than you can say "hot potato". And just when you think you've caught your breath, a northerly stream will blow in ahead of yet another cold front on Saturday. So, make sure to stay safe and keep an eye out for any stormy weather or intense heatwaves headed our way. Mother Nature is not messing around this week, folks!

NT:

Watch out folks, Mother Nature is up to her usual tricks in the NT today. We've got a mix of scattered thunderstorms in the southwest, possibly severe, so best to keep an eye out for those. And let's not forget about that pesky trough hanging out in the Barkly - it's causing some trouble too. But wait, there's more! A ridge is coming in from the south, bringing with it some dry winds and elevated fire danger in the Simpson and Barkly Districts. So if you're planning on starting any campfires this week, maybe think twice about it. And up in the Top End, we've got some serious heatwave conditions going on. The sun is shining bright, but those temperatures are soaring. Stay hydrated and find some shade, because it's going to be a scorcher.
