Cold front

So a cold front is where cold air meets warm, the cold air condenses and forms cloud and then produces rain.

A cold front is represented by a blue line and little triangles on a map you see on a synoptic map.

What you are looking at in the photo is essentially this. Cold air moving towards warm air, warm air rises and cools and becomes rain. The straight line is pretty common.
