National Synoptic Situation

Well, looks like we've got a high chillin' over the Tasman Sea, extending a ridge over the east of the state. This ridge is gonna start to weaken over the next day or two as the high casually moves east. Meanwhile, there's a trough and some clouds hanging out over southwestern Queensland, making their way eastwards across the state in the next couple of days. Come Friday, the trough will start to make its way off the east coast, but might decide to stick around and flex its muscles just offshore of the southeast coast over the weekend before finally deciding to move on by Monday. But don't worry, a large high making its way east across the Bight will come in and save the day, extending a new ridge over the state after the trough leaves the party during the weekend.

Friday, 27th September

Up in the sky, above the western and northwestern parts of town, things will be feeling a bit more elevated. So, if you find yourself in that neck of the woods, prepare for some altitude.

Saturday, 28th September

Prepare yourselves for some light precipitation and potential thunderstorm activity in central and southeastern Queensland today. The possibility of showers becoming more widespread, with the potential for some heavier rainfall in the far southeastern regions, depending on the whims of a coastal trough. Expect isolated showers along the east coast, while the rest of the state will mostly enjoy sunny skies. Temperatures will be below average in the southeast and central areas, but above average elsewhere. Overnight lows will be cooler in the far south, but warmer in the central and northern regions.

Sunday, 29th September

Prepare for a sprinkle or two in the east, with a chance of more widespread rain in the southeast. Down in the far southwest, you might need an umbrella as well. The sun will be shining bright in most parts of the state, but don't get too comfortable - temperatures will be hitting average in the southeast and above average everywhere else. As for the lows, expect things to be a bit warmer in the north and east, but cooler in the southwest. Time to break out those layers!

Monday, 30th September

Prepare yourselves for a sprinkle of rain in southeastern Queensland and along the east coast north of Townsville. The rest of the region will bask in the sunshine, with temperatures soaring above what we consider normal. Even the minimum temperatures in the north will be higher than usual. Mother Nature sure has a sense of humor!
