National

Well, looks like we've got a ridge extending over the state, accompanied by a southeasterly wind surge making its way north along the east coast. On Tuesday, a high will grace southeastern Australia before sauntering over to the southern Coral Sea on Wednesday, and then casually strolling east over the next few days. Come Thursday, a trough will nonchalantly mosey on over to the southwest of the state before making its way east across southern and central Queensland on Friday. The trough might even decide to stick around for the weekend, while a weak high crosses southeastern Australia on Sunday, casually moving into the Tasman Sea next Monday and extending a weak ridge over the state. Just another day in the life of our ever-changing weather patterns!

National 4 Day Forecast

Windy.com NEW ACCESS 4 Day Accumulated Rain and Synoptic

Tuesday, 17th September

Well, looks like Mother Nature is feeling a bit trigger-happy in the western and central districts, with those fire danger ratings reaching new heights. So, folks, be prepared to witness some scorching hot conditions out there. Stay safe and keep those fire extinguishers handy!

Wednesday, 18th September

Some lucky souls in the north and east might get a sprinkle or two, while those south of Mackay will probably feel left out. Up north, expect a bit of cloud cover, but down south, it's all about the sunshine. Don't be surprised if you wake up to frost in the south and central regions, or if you find yourself in a foggy situation in the southeast. Temperatures will be cooler than usual up north, but pretty much par for the course everywhere else.

Thursday, 19th September

It seems like Mother Nature has decided to sprinkle some rain in the northern and eastern districts above Yeppoon. As for the rest of northern Queensland, it will be partly cloudy, while the sun will shine brightly in most other areas. Temperatures will be a bit higher than usual south of Longreach, but near average everywhere else. So, get ready for a mix of weather patterns across the region today.

Friday, 20th September

Prepare yourself for some isolated to scattered showers in eastern districts and over Cape York Peninsula, with a chance of them being isolated south of Mackay. The rest of the area will be graced with mostly sunny skies. There may be some morning fog between Cairns and Mackay to add a touch of mystery to your day. Maximum temperatures are predicted to be above average, except for the far southwest where they will be near average. Enjoy the weather, or at least try to!

Well, looks like we've got a classic case of frosty patches in the east during the wee hours of the morning. Winds will be playing a little game of musical chairs - starting off southeasterly at 15 to 20 km/h, then taking a nap before dawn, only to wake up and become south to southeasterly at 15 to 25 km/h in the morning. Overnight, temperatures will be dropping to a chilly 2 to 7 degrees, but fear not, as daytime temperatures will be reaching the mid to high 20s. Mother nature sure does have a sense of humor, doesn't she?
