National Synoptic Situation

It appears that a rather dramatic trough is making its way across Queensland, extending all the way from the northwest to the central and southern interior. This trough is expected to deepen and head east on Thursday, eventually making its grand exit off the east coast by Friday. Meanwhile, a high pressure system will be crossing southern Australia on Thursday, leaving behind a ridge in its wake over the state. Keep an eye out for a low pressure system brewing in the Tasman Sea on Friday, which will then saunter eastward over the weekend. By Saturday, the high pressure system will have made its way to the Tasman Sea and will continue its leisurely eastward journey over the next few days. And just when you thought things might calm down, a new trough is predicted to pop up over western, central, and southern Queensland on Sunday, before making its way east on Monday and gradually losing its oomph by Tuesday. All the while, a new high pressure system will be crossing the Great Australian Bight. So, in summary, it looks like we've got quite the weather rollercoaster ahead of us!

Temperature and Rainfall Forecast - Access-G

Thursday, 24th October

Watch out! The fire danger ratings are soaring in inland districts and the Capricornia District. Keep an eye out for any potential flames and take necessary precautions to avoid turning your surroundings into a scene from a disaster movie. Stay safe out there!

Friday, 25th October

Prepare your umbrellas and lightning rods, as there will be isolated showers in eastern Queensland, along with the Gulf Country District, the western Peninsula District, and the far northern interior. Thunderstorms may make an appearance in the Gulf Country District and certain parts of the northern interior, central, and southeastern Queensland. In other areas, the sun will shine brightly. Expect below-average maximum temperatures in the southwest, but above-average temperatures everywhere else.

Saturday, 26th October

Prepare your umbrellas, folks, as eastern Queensland and the Gulf Country District are in for some isolated showers. In the southeast, showers will be scattered at times, while central and northern inland Queensland may experience thunderstorms. The rest of the state can expect mostly sunny skies. Temperatures will be near average in the southeast and far southwest, but above average elsewhere. Keep cool in the Peninsula District, where heatwave conditions are expected. Mother Nature is certainly keeping us on our toes!

Sunday, 27th October

Prepare yourselves for a smattering of isolated showers along the east coast, much of central and southern Queensland, as well as the Gulf Country and the Peninsula Districts. These showers may decide to spread out a bit at times in central and southern Queensland east of Charleville. Don't be surprised if a thunderstorm or two decides to join the party in central and southern Queensland. The rest of us can expect mostly sunny skies. Temperatures will be feeling pretty standard in the southeast and near the coast, but above average elsewhere. Brace yourselves for some serious heatwave conditions in parts of the Peninsula and Gulf Country Districts. Stay cool, my friends.
