National Synoptic Situation

Prepare yourselves, as a feeble trough will be making its way northward over the southeast of the state today and reaching central Queensland by Tuesday. This trough will then shrink into the central interior on Wednesday, bringing with it some showers and the occasional isolated thunderstorm. Meanwhile, a mighty high will be traversing eastward across southern and southeastern Australia, strengthening a ridge that will cover most of the state by Tuesday. By Thursday, this high will have made its way to the Tasman Sea, maintaining a strong ridge over the eastern part of the state. Keep an eye out for another trough that may start to wander across inland southern Queensland starting Friday, potentially lingering over southeast Queensland throughout the weekend.

Tuesday, 1st October

Well, it appears that the temperatures will be reaching their peak in the Gulf Country, Central West, North West, and Channel Country Districts. So, if you're planning on venturing out into the great outdoors, you might want to pack some extra sunscreen and stay hydrated. It's going to be a scorcher out there!

Wednesday, 2nd October

Prepare yourselves for a smattering of showers in the eastern districts, with a side of scattered rain on the Sunshine Coast, Central Coast, and northeast tropical coast north of Townsville. There's a chance of thunderstorms in the central and southern interior, so don't forget your umbrella if you're heading that way. Meanwhile, expect mostly sunny skies elsewhere, but be wary of dry and gusty south to southeasterly winds causing high fire danger in parts of western Queensland. The east coast will be feeling fresh and gusty winds, so hold onto your hats! Temperatures will be near or slightly below average in southeast and central Queensland, but above average in other areas. Minimum temperatures will be on the warmer side of things, so you may want to keep the fan handy.

Thursday, 3rd October

Looks like there are some isolated showers in eastern districts today, possibly scattered along the east coast. Partly cloudy in the far southwest, with a chance of isolated showers near the New South Wales border south of Thargomindah. Mostly sunny in other areas. Watch out for moderate to fresh and gusty northerly winds, which could lead to high fire danger ratings in western Queensland, and even locally extreme in the Channel Country. Maximum temperatures are near average in eastern districts, but above or well above average in the west. Minimum temperatures are near or above average as well. So, grab your sunscreen and your umbrella, and stay safe out there!

Friday, 4th October

Prepare yourselves for some isolated showers on the east coast, with a chance of scattered showers up north near Townsville. Keep an eye out for gusty thunderstorms in the southwest and southern interior - particularly if you're anywhere between St George and Augathella. Everywhere else can expect mostly sunny skies. Temperatures will be pretty average in the east, but things will be heating up in the west and interior of Queensland. Watch out for those fresh and gusty north to northwesterly winds, which could lead to some elevated fire danger ratings in certain areas. Don't forget to check those minimum temperatures - they'll be hovering around average or a bit higher. Stay safe out there, folks!
